When Delani and I were married...wait, before I
ever asked Delani to marry me in 2011, shortly after
moving to South Africa, I knew that there would be
certain unique challenges to such a marriage. Not just
families, but countries and cultures would be marrying
here. What gave me pause was the thought of one day
being separated due to immigration issues. I felt that
Delani was the woman that God wanted me to marry (I
still do) and I knew that He would work it out.
Fast forward to the beginning of this year and
suddenly, for the first time, I heard that Delani could holdU.S. citizenship while maintaining her South African
citizenship. Wonderful, where do we sign the papers; and
then, the catch. She would have to be physically living in
the U.S. for our marriage to count towards her citizenship.
Thus began what was a nearly year long process
of praying and filling in papers and waiting on God to see
if He would open the doors. He opened the doors widely
and though many of you never knew it, often when we
needed extra money for visa paperwork, God laid it on
one of your hearts and the money was miraculously there.
Well, the visa is here and our tickets are
purchased. We have expectant and yet, very heavy hearts.
This is our home and we love it. We had had no plans of
moving away and so this has been a big adjustment, but
we know God leads with purpose.

Nearly four years ago I landed
in Johannesburg on a warm
summers morning in February. I
was here to volunteer at Hope
Christian Academy; a patch to a
difficult situation. Now several
years later, my wife and I are full-
time HIM missionaries and we are
blessed to be part of this amazing
team in Southern Africa.
I realized as I tried to grab
some snapshots of our life here in
Ladybrand, that what one would
expect to see, what I spent the
majority of my time doing, was
seriously lacking. The fact is, when
I was doing ministry I was DOING
something and therefore rarely took
great photos to document the fact.
Most of the photos are during more
relaxed moments in the holidays or
when family was visiting.
Please pray for us. It is a
daunting task to pack up the house
here and begin again. We are
tossing things this way and that like
a sinking ship and somewhere in
the midst of all that madness, it gets
frightening. And yet, in this
whirlwind, God has been speaking
to us in a way we probably wouldnt
have been able to listen without it.
Laurelynn came from Hobe
Sound on a moments notice once
we saw all was going through in
order to give us the opportunity to
get the rest of the paperwork
through and pack up the house.
Thank you to everyone who
has supported us so faithfully hereand sent us your love and kind
words from time to time. We will
still be working with HIM in the
U.S. for a time. I plan to raise
money to help with the operating
cost and teaching staff of Hope
Christian Academy as well as
helping Bro. Grant with a research
project for HIM at the home office.
We would covet your continued
support and prayers during this
time. Please mark your calendars
to pray on the 25th and 26th of
November as we fly to the U.S. If
you can support us financially now,
we would so appreciate it with the
relocation. God bless.
You can support us here.
