Foreword;We talked about whether to have an author photograph on this book or not.

I suggested that photographers by nature are invisible, or should be.

Thinking about that statement later, I realised I was absolutely wrong. Looking at the pictures, you can see people reacting to the camera, to the

photographer, to me. There are far fewer instances here of people being completely unaware of a photographer’s presence. It’s possible to find

situations and atmospheres and record them, it’s also just as possible to create an atmosphere or situation just by being there.

This brings us to the question of photographs being true reflections of reality? Would these images have occurred without me being there?

A few of them yes, but most of them no.

This is my reality.

If photographs are visual messages, each one unique, each one conveying meaning and substance to the receiver, then I hope some of these images

mean something to you.
