Jeopardy: Westward Expansion

• SS5H3- The student will describe how life changed in America at the turn of the century.

• Activity- We will play a Jeopardy style quiz game to prepare for our upcoming Social Studies Westward Expansion test.

• Essential Question: How did westward expansion impact the lives of Americans, immigrants, and Native Americans?

1. Notice the different categories and dollar amounts. 

2. We will move in team order – each team will take turns selecting a category. 

3. After each question, you will have one minute to work independently and write your answer (s) on your sheet of paper.

4. When “conference” is called you will have one minute to discuss your answer (s) with your teammates to come up with your team’s answer.  

5. If your team answers correctly than your team will be awarded the dollar amount. If your team is incorrect, the next team gets a chance to “steal.” If they are correct they then will earn the money. (Can continue around if it is a difficult question.)

6. That next team still selects the next question. (This is even if they miss the steal!)  You do not lose your turn if you miss a steal!

7. Be sure Mrs. B. does not catch you conferencing when it is not appropriate. Teams conferencing in advance will have points deducted from their score and Mrs. Stone will gain points! Good Luck!

8. You may keep track of your score on your answer sheet.

9. Reminder: Be sure you write neatly and your paper is organized. You will turn it in!
