North Shore Youth Council's Holiday Giving Program helped 15 families and 50 children have a wonderful
Christmas this year!
Dear Friends and Families,
Although the weather is still cold and snowy, March is here and spring is right around the
corner! As they say, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. We're ready for
sunshine, warm weather, and being outside!
Lots of fun things are happening in our School Age Child Care programs. Just to name a
few, children will be participating in a variety of St. Patrick's Day crafts, plus karate will
move in to Andrew Muller Primary School aftercare. Shoreham-Wading River will also get
to experience some fantastic yoga activities, while the Rocky Point middle schoolers
engage in their own karate clinic and wellness workshops. Tell your site supervisor if you
have any ideas for special events, activities, or workshops!
Our Big Buddy, Little Buddy program is flourishing and the kids are excited for their
grand celebration which is only a couple months away! If you're interested in
volunteering, learning about sponsorship opportunities, or wondering how you can
donate for this event, please reach out to us.
We hope you have a great month and appreciate your continued support!
We would like to thank the Staller Center's Instrument Petting Zoo for visiting our programs last month! Our children loved being exposed to different musical instruments and many were inspired to take
up an instrument in school next year!

NSYC SpotlightCongratulations to our School Age Child Care Program
Director for Mt. Sinai and Shoreham-Wading River Schools, Nancy Kloska, on her important role as a student
support counselor for Prodell Middle School and Shoreham-Wading River High School!
"As the student support counselor, I am that additional support person there to meet with students toward the end of the school day and after school, when issues can sometimes come to a head. My objectives in this role are
to listen, support and guide my students, thereby promoting their positive social-emotional well-being
and development."
Yoga for healthy youth!
Thanks to Yoga for Health LI, our youth have been experiencing the many benefits of yoga!
From building self-esteem to increasing their balance and focus, the kids in our child care programs have been busy learning mindfulness and tools for stress-management to
help them stay physically and mentally healthy. They've even been participating in mindful art projects!
