Jejuri is a city and a municipal council in Pune districtin the Western Indian state of Maharashtra. It is famousfor the main temple of Lord Khandoba.

1 Geography

Jejuri is located at18°17′N 74°10′E / 18.28°N74.17°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 718 me-tres (2355 feet).

2 How to reach

Jejuri is situated 48 km from Pune in Maharashtra State.Jejuri can be reached is by Road or Rail from Pune.Number of State Transport buses ply from Pune. 3 Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Jejuri had a population of12,000. Males constitute 52% of the population and fe-males 48%. Jejuri has an average literacy rate of 73%,higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacyis 79%, and female literacy is 67%. In Jejuri, 14% of thepopulation is under 6 years of age.

4 Khandoba Temple

Jejuri Temple is located in the Jejuri town, which liesto the southeast of the Pune city of Maharashtra. Thetown is known for being the venue of one of the reveredtemples in the state, known as the Khandobachi Jejuri.[3]The temple is dedicated to Khandoba, also known as

Mhalsakant or Malhari Martand or Mylaralinga. Khan-doba is regarded as the 'God of Jejuri' and is held in greatreverence by the Dhangars, one of the oldest tribes in In-dia.Jejuri Khandoba Temple can be easily divided into twoseparate sections - the Mandap and Garbhagriha.
