1. INTRODUCTION Sports is a means of physical and mental development besides

creating harmony in the country. Sports is like a matrix where

persons of all creeds, color, religion and socio economic status have

the level playing ground. It’s a melting pot where all and sundry

have equal rights and opportunities. Sports is, thus, a glowing

example of national integration. The participation in sports makes a

nation fitter and also reduces the burden of morbidity and mortality

in the population. Indian people are by nature sedentary and as

such, the load of life style diseases is increasing on the health

system of the country exponentially. Keeping in view the fact that a

fitter nation is better in performance in all parameters, it is

important that the Tamilnadu Teachers Education University wishes

to conduct Various Sports and Cultural meets for Students Studying

under this University at College, District, Zonal and State Level.

4. GOALS/OBJECTIVES

To provide an opportunity for the students to participate in sports in a bigway.

To develop leadership skills and foster qualities of co-operation, tolerance, consideration, trust and responsibility when faced with group and team problem-solving tasks.

To develop self-esteem and self-confidence through positive sporting experiences.

To develop physical fitness by maintaining and increasing such

components as speed, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular

endurance, aerobic capacity and anaerobic capacity.

To develop physical literacy through an acquisition of those levels of

skill necessary for efficient body movement and control in a sporting situation.

To develop an understanding of the importance of sport in the pursuit

of a healthy and active lifestyle at the College and beyond.

To provide the opportunity to be inventive and creative in sporting

activities

To develop an appreciation of the concepts of fair play, honest

competition and good sportsmanship. To develop the capacity to maintain interest in a sport or sports and to

persevere in order to achieve success.

To prepare each student to be able to participate fully in the competitive, recreational and leisure opportunities offered outside the school environment.

To use sport as a means to develop social interaction and so learn

about others as well as themselves.

To provide a release for pupils in order to refresh for academic work.

To promote an understanding of physical and mental well-being

through an appreciation of stress, rest and relaxation.

To ensure that every pupil can maximise their sporting potential and

find a sport that they can enjoy and participate in with some success.

5.1. Procedure for College Level

Competitions:

General Rules: For Games

Each Participant can be permitted in any three Events excluding relay

as the following bases.

Two runs One jump or one throw

Individual championship will be decided on the bases of following

The winners of the respective event should be sent to the concerned District Representatives nominated by the University (List Enclosed) on

The Team managers should bring the photo copy of the entry forms on

the day of the meet.

The winners of First, Second, and Third places student teachers in the

College level Sports and Cultural Competitions conducted in every

affiliated Colleges of this University are alone can be permitted to take part

in the District level Sports and Cultural meet.

6.1 Procedure for District Level Competitions:

General Rules: For Games The participants should be a Student of B.Ed or M.Ed Degree Programme. Every Participant must wear in their College ID Card and Sports Dress. Participants should bring Authorization Letters from the Principal. Each College can be permitted to represent Maximum 14 Participants irrespective of Gender and Events.

For Each Event, a College can represent only one athlete.

Each competitor will be permitted to take part in maximum 3 events excluding relay.

Chest Numbers will be provided to all the participants in Relay event only.

The participants in relay event must wear the Chest Numbers.

The competitors, who unable to fail to report when call for, they will lose their chance to participate in the

event.

Participants should strictly follow the rules the spirit of true sportsmanship should be observed.

All the participants and accompanying with their Team manager is requested to report for registration by 7.30 am on the

day of meet.

Accommodation will not be provided for the participants

All the participating colleges are expected to take part in the opening ceremony March- Past in Athletic

costumes (proper uniform) along with College flag, Banner and bamboo sticks.

TA/DA for the participants and team manager will be made by the Respective colleges.

Individual championship will be decided on the bases of following points.
