From Barely Making it to? The Effects of Wage Increases for Low Wage Workers (2017-2018) $41,250 grant funded by the Office of the Provost, University of Pittsburgh Co-Principal Investigator (with Dr. Sara Goodkind and Dr. Ray Engel, Co-PIs)

This mixed methods project examines the effects of wage increases on the individual and family well-being of workers at Allegheny General Hospital. Understanding Transitions to Adulthood among Child Welfare Involved Youth (2008-2012) $180,000 grant funded by the Eden Hall and Pittsburgh Foundations Co-Principal Investigator (with Dr. Sara Goodkind, Co-PI) This was a collaborative project with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services that examined the pathways of youth across child serving systems (e.g., child welfare to juvenile justice) and to assess the outcomes of youth who “age out” of the child welfare system. Multidimensional Characteristics of Incarcerated Youth and the Role of Race (2006-2011) $10,000 Pilot Grant, Center on Race and Social Problems, University of Pittsburgh Principal Investigator This project examined the characteristics and experiences of youth placed at two Pennsylvania juvenile justice facilities. Processing Juveniles as Adults: A Policy Research Project (2003-2006) $169,000 Project Grant awarded by the Kellogg Foundation Co-Principal Investigator (with Dr. Rosemary Sarri, Co-PI) This project examined decisions to treat juveniles as adults and the consequences of those decisions in Michigan. It also included a policy component focused on policy reform efforts in Michigan. Treating Juveniles as Adults in the Justice System (2001-2002) $4,500 grant awarded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, University of Michigan. Co-Principal Investigator (with Dr. Rosemary Sarri, Co-PI) This project provided initial pilot data for a study of decision making and case processing in a Michigan county. The Use of Risk Assessment in Achieving Accountability-Based Sanctions (1998-2001) $200,000 grant awarded by the National Institute of Justice. Co-Investigator (Dr. Rosemary Sarri, Principal Investigator) This project examined the use of structured decision making in juvenile justice administration in 12 counties across 4 states.
