Look around your house and document all the objects that use electricity. Draw a few examples. If the electricity went out, what would your life look like? Explain!
Consider the list you made yesterday of objects that use electricity. Are they using energy when not in use? Can they be unplugged to save energy? Make a family plan to conserve energy at your house.

Light energy can turn into heat when it hits an object. Light can also be reflected from an object so it doesn’t turn into heat. **Do different colors of paper reflect heat differently? 1. On a warm, sunny day, place the colored paper on the ground. Make sure that all of the sheets of paper receive the same amount of sunlight. Put one ice cube on each sheet of paper. 2. Begin timing and record the time each cube takes to melt. Record your answers.
Make a list of different kinds of energy. Where do you see these types of energy? How can energy change? ^^Look in the links in “Other ways to extend learning” for a Science link to energy.

Write down the numbers 0-9 on pieces of paper to make cards (or use playing cards if available). Lay them face down. Turn over two cards to make a 2-digit number. Turn over two additional cards to make another 2-digit number. Multiply the two 2-digit numbers to find the product. Repeat until you complete 10 facts.
*Use dominoes for multi-digit problems. Take two dominoes and line them up horizontally. That becomes the problem. For example, let’s say one domino has a 4 and a 2, and the second domino has a 1 and 6. So the problem would be 42×16 or 24×61. Do this with four different sets of dominoes. Use dice if you don’t have dominoes or a deck of cards. If using cards, use four cards to create two different two-digit numbers. Ex: if you draw a 4, 7, 2, and 5 you could do 42×57. Play against a parent or sibling. The player with the highest product wins. Complete 10 different sets on paper.
-Go on a walk around your neighborhood and count the number of cars you see. Multiply that number by the number of blocks you walked. -With a deck of cards, flip over two cards and create a number. Flip over a third card and multiply it by the number you created.
