a PrOFILe OF SrI SrI SrI Jeeyar SWamI

• Sri Swami came on to this earth on 1st September1909 through the pious parents Sri VangipuramMangayacharyulu and Smt Chudamma in KakinadaofEastGodavaiDistrict ofAndhraPradesh.

• On the 6th day of his birth, his mother found aCobra spreading its hood as an umbrella over him.Hismother prayed and said that she would give thenameofAdisesha asTiruvengalacharya.

• AsasmallchildhewasadoptedbySriAkulamannatiChilakamarri Krishnamacharya and Smt.Lakshminarasamma and since then he was known asA.C.Srimannarayanacharya.

• He had his elementary education at Madurai inTamilanadu and later shifted to Arthamuru, on thebanks ofRiverGodavari.

• AlongwithSriGopalacharyaSwami,whowashisgoodfriend, hepursuedhis studies inLaw andVedantha.

• HewasapatriotandfreedomFighter.HeestablishedGautami Gorakshan Seva Sangham and worked forproviding fodder to the cattle, Khadhi cloth makingand distribution. To make villages self-reliant, heestablished libraries, organised Village Councils,disseminated news, planted saplings and got wellsdug.

• For the first time in the country he got 128 housesbuiltforHarijansandSri.V.V.Giri,thethenCentralLabourMinister inaugurated them in1938.

• He brought awakening in women, established“Yathiraja Seva Mahila Mandali” and made womento lead spiritual classes and conductPujas.

• He made a study of philosophy in Sanskrit andDravida languages and propagated them. From 1932onward, he organised Pundit Sabhas and gave a newlease of life toVisishtadwaita.

• He lost hiswife,who gave birth to three sons and adaughter, at the age of 26.

• He launched the magazine, “Bhakti Nivedana” in1947. He renovated many dilapidated temples andplantedtreesinthetemplepremises,alongwithwaterpumping system.

• He took total renunciation (Sanyasasram) in 1954.

• He organised Koti Havana Maha Kratuvu in 1954at Badrinath.He facilitated travel to both north andsouth Indians toBadrinath.

• He conducted 108 Sri Rama Kratuvus all over thecountry from1960 to 1969 and establishedStupas.

• In1972heorganised1008KundaSriLakshminarayanaKratuvu and through Kariri Homa he procuredtorrential rain thus making the TTD have faith inVedic errands.

• In1973,heorganisedanAllIndiaVedicConference,in Ram Leela Maidan, Delhi, wherein 2500 VedicPundits from all over the country participated. ThethenPrimeMinisterSmt.IndiraGandhi,participatedand in that great event and applaud it.

• He initiated themethodof SatvikHavanawithFourVedas. To propagate that system, 105 SwadhyayaJnana Yajnas from 1974 to 1979 were conducted byHim.

• HeperformedBrahmayajnastoexplaintheimportanceof Pushkaras. He was adored as “Andhra Jeeyar” byTamil and Hindi speaking people. He was a realembodiment of “Jeeyar”.

• SriSwamiwasacclaimedbythegreatscholarofthosedays Sri Prathivadi Bhayankaram AnnangacharyaSwamyofKanchipuram as “Sathya Sankalpa”.

Broad-minded SriRamanujacharya with aview tobreak thenarrow

domesticwallsofcasteism,exhortedTirumanthrafromthetopofTempleTower ofGoshtipura.

Sri Ramanujacharya was an unostentatious and humbledisciple to hisGuru, though theGuru acclaimed him as“Emberuma:na:r”, ‘You are greater thanUs’.

Sri Ramanujacharya proved that all the devotees are thechildren ofGod, thus, bringing revolutionary changes intemples’ systems and during those days, he opened thedoors of temples toHarijans.

He announced to the whole world through the Storyof Bibi Nachiar ofMelkote that through the worship ofMadhava one can awaken the innate humane nature andwashoff the religious fanaticism.

He even exhorted the presiding deities of Melkote,Tirumala, Srirangam, Kuranganagari, etc., about divinityandperformed“PanchaSamskaram”thusbecametherealGuru to the humans, on one hand and to the God, onthe other hand !

Yathiraja SriRamanujacharya composednine long-lastingworksonVedasandtheirsecrets.Further,heappointed74Spiritual Leaders as Simhasana Adhipathis, for spreadingtheVedic knowledge.

AcharyaRamanujareintegratedthesociety,whichwasthentorn with illogic and misinterpretations of religion, withthe glue of bhakthi.

S riRamanujacharya, it isbelieved, re-incarnated

as Manavala Mahamuni inthe14thCenturytosavethepeople.

Sri Manavala Mahamunirelentlessly worked fortranslating the scriptures of

Sanskrit into regional languages.

He had the privilege of being the First Guru of SriRanganathawhomhe taughtVedanta for one long year.

As a disciple Sriranganatha offeredHis “Adiseshasana” byrendering the sloka, “Sri Sailesa Dayapatram…”. Eventoday, Sri Manavala Mahamuni receives all the honoursfromSriranganatha, in Srirangam,TN.

SriManavalaMahamuniaddedeightmoregreat scholars,as Ashta Diggajas, for rejuvenating the traditions of SriRamanuja.

Ever since the beginning of the human race, MaharishislikeVasishta,ParasaraandVyasaandAcharyas likeNathamuni,Yamunamuni,Ramanujamuni,SriVaravaramunistrove forconservingSriVaishnava tradition, thoughnowand then they suffer depletions.

“Yada: yada: hi dharmasya gla:nir bhavati Bha:rata!Abhyuttha:nam adharmasya thada:tma:nam sruja:my aham.”

God sends great souls into this world to protect dharmaand fight against adharma. Our Acharya, His HolinessJeeyarSwamiisoneamongsuchgreatsoulssent intothisworld byGod tomelt the souls hardened by “Kali” andmould them into gooddevoteeswith kindhearts……

HH SrimannarayanaRamanuja JeeyarSwami,whilededicatinghimself right fromhis childhood to Godand Godly traditionsparticipated in theFreedom Movementwith patriotism. Hefought against socialmaladiesandundertookmany social activities

including constructionof houses forHarijans.

He reformed people who involved in blasphemy withlove and affection. By performing yajnas like “Kareeri inTirumala”heprovedthatYajnasandYagashavethepowerto yield positive results.He organised an All IndiaVedicConferenceinNewDelhi,forthefirsttime,byassemblingthousands of Veda Pundits and announced to the worldthatWelfare of the Society is the prime motto of VedasandVedicRituals.

SriSwamitookitasamissiontorenovatethedilapidatedtemplesandtoconstructnewtempleswhereevernecessary.He exhorted that temples are real training centres forpromoting ethical values and practice righteousness. It istheduty of every individual to keep them sacred.

He advocated that it would be possible to bring changein the prisoners also by giving them training in humanvaluesratherthanpunishingthem.Hedemonstrateditbyconstructing SriRamaKrathu Stupas in theCentral JailsofRajahmundry,Madurai andBerhampur.

Sri Swamiwas aNationalistwhobelieved in thenationalintegration through spirituality and he proved it byconducting an “Ashtakshari Krathuvu” in Badarinath in1954, immediately afterHis takingSanyasaDeeksha.

It is 100 years sinceHisHoliness came on to this earth(1909-2009)anditisboundendutytoshowourgratitudefor the yeoman service he did for the country andVedicculture.The“JeeyarSATHABDI-2009”isatokenofourreverence and gratitude to Sri Swami.
