JOB DESCRIPTION
THE ORGANIZATION
VISION
Today,fourbillionpeople-nearlysixtypercentoftheworld’spopulation-areexcludedfromtheformal
economy.Theyeitherhavenoaccessorpayapovertypremiumforessentialgoodsandservices,suchas
cleanwater,sanitation,energyandhealthcare.Byprovidingaglobalplatformtoscalesocialinnovations
andcreatemarket-basedecosystemsforessential,affordableproducts,BoPHubaimstointegratethese
fourbillionintothemarketplaceasentrepreneurs,innovatorsandconsumers.
Werecognize theuniquesharedbenefits that socialentrepreneurs,corporationsand theBoPpopulace
can reap by collaborating with one another. BoP Hub seeks to collect these actors,weave ideas andexpertisetogether,anddistributesolutionsacrossborders.
BACKGROUND
BoP Hub is a Singapore-based start-up organization that had been in the works since early 2010 but
officiallylaunchedwithpartialbackingfromtheEconomicDevelopmentBoardofSingaporeinDecember
2010.Weoperateasanon-profitwitharevenuemodel.Theteamislean,withJackSimasFounderand2
Co-Creators, both Berkeley MBAs who have blended backgrounds in the corporate world and social
enterprise/internationaldevelopmentspace.
BoP Hub’s bread and butter is scaling proven social innovations and developing social-business
partnerships. We are working on scaling a Sanitation social enterprise in 2 countries in Asia, and
developingtwoearlystageprojectsinRenewableEnergyandCleanWaterwithMNCs.Otherthanventure
building, there areotheractivities that help build awareness andthepipeline forfuturework, such as
conductingworkshops,missiontripsandBoP-relatedconferences.
BoP Hub has a Commitment to Action announced at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global
Initiative, isa partnerofGrameenCreativeLab@NUS(Singapore),andworks closelywith theSchwab
FoundationforSocialEntrepreneurs,Ashoka,andtheWorldEntrepreneurshipForum.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
TheEnterpriseAssistantwillbebasedinSingaporeandworkcloselywiththefounderandco-creatorsin
takingthestart-uptothenextlevel,asprojectsstarttomaterialize.Thismeansyoushouldbeableto
excelinachaoticenvironment,wherethegoalsareclearbutactivitiesmaygetre-prioritizedasneeded.
TheidealEnterpriseAssistantissomeonewhohasboththeabilityto setupandmanageadministrative
systemsandapassionforsocialinnovation.Youwillgettolearnmoreaboutsocialenterprises,NGOsandcorporationswith presence in SE Asia, andworkwith design-thinkers, privatesectorprofessionals and
consultantsinournetwork,atbothprojectandorganizationallevels.

KEY ACTIVITIES
AwarenessBuilding,Fundraising&Pitching(est.40%oftime) –increasingtheprofileofandbuildingthe
pipelineforBoPHub
• Assistthefounder&co-creatorsinmanagingthelogisticsforevents,workshops&trademissions
thatBoPHubhostsorsupports
• Researchfunderorganizations,andsupportthewritingandapplicationofgrants
• Researchcompanies,andsupportthepreparationofpitches• SupportBoPHub’ssocialmediaefforts
Projects(est.30%oftime) –supportingourcurrentprojectsinCambodiaandIndia,plusallfuturework
• Performresearchonsectors(e.g.water,sanitation,etc)andstakeholders(e.g.socialenterprises,
companies,otherinnovators,etc)
• Helpprepareclient-facingdocuments
AdministrativeSupport(est.30%oftime) –ensuringproperprocessesasBoPHubspinsofffromits
incubatingorganizationandregistersindependently
• Establishstandardprocessesforpayrollandbanking
• Managethemonthlybudgetandquarterlygrantreimbursementsubmissions
• ScheduleandorganizethemonthlyBoardmeeting.Workwiththeco-creatorstopreparemeeting
materials,notices,minutesetc.
• StartonaCRMsystemandmaintainBoPHub’scontactdatabase
• Assistinmakingtravelarrangements
QUALIFICATIONS
Youshouldbeaself-driven,organizedindividualwithaninterestinthesocialimpactspace.
Specificskillswearelookingfor:
• Atleast2yearsofworkingexperience• Strongorganizationalabilities
• Anaptitudefordetailcombinedwithanabilitytoseethebigpicture
• Comfortablewithcomplexity,workingindependentlyyetintegratedwiththeteam
• ExcellentanalyticskillsandproficientExceluser
• ExcellentwrittenandspokencommunicationabilitiesandaPowerpointuser
• Exposure to both the business and social sectors, and be comfortable with basic business
fundamentalslikefinance,marketingandoperations
• Grantwriting(orpitching)experiencewouldbeaplus
COMPENSATION
Thesalarywillbecommensuratewiththelevelofexperienceandalignedwiththenon-profitpayscale.
