JCT CONTRACT MANAGEMENT COURSE

JCT contracts are some of the most recognisable standard form contracts used within the

building and construction industry. This unique 6-week course is designed to give

attendees the vital knowledge they need to effectively administer and deliver projects

using the JCT suite of contracts.

THE COURSE WILL provide practical knowledge of the JCT Suite of Contracts and relevant law with an ultimate aim of enabling attendees to make their JCT contracts more successful.

THE COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR construction or legal professionals (employers, architects, contract administrators, contractors and subcontractors) that are in any way involved in the procurement, administration and/or delivery of projects under JCT contracts, and wish to develop their understanding and key commercial skills necessary for management.

A handbook and syllabus will be sent to all delegates, including timetables, recommended reading, as well as case law to review before the first seminar. Pre-reading and homework assignments will be given each week to further consolidate the content delivered by our experienced lecturers.

This course will provide attendees with knowledge of the fundamental principles of how the JCT contracts operate and the knowledge to efficiently manage JCT contracts from tender/procurement to practical completion and final account. The course will focus on the 2016 editions of the Standard Building Contract, Design & Build Contract and the associated Sub-Contracts. Particular attention will be paid to the selection and suitability of each contract, alongside an explanation of the different roles and responsibilities under each contract. Practical tips for proficient administration will be presented together with how to correctly and efficiently make or respond to claims for extensions of time and loss and expense.
