Java Cloud Service: Application Profile GuidelinesWith service under Controlled Availability since Sept 2014
• Existing departmental applications deployed on WebLogic Server (ideal)
• Tomcat, JBoss & other Java servers also a good target
• Focus on this profile first before targeting mission critical enterprise application profile
• New applications built for the cloud – situational, ad hoc, seasonal, SaaS extension targeted cloud only use cases
• Typically using cloud services such as messaging, storage, developer
• Common profile – capacity on-demand, subscription pricing, instant availability, shorter commitment
• Java EE application using a database in the public cloud
• Ideal when Database in cloud until VPC available
• Ideal when fewer touch-points with external systems until VPC available
• Typical cluster size 4; up to 16 supported
• Typical compute capacity per node – 2 or 4 OCPUs and 4 to 16 gigabyte in heap
• Initially no multi data center required
• High value applications requiring 99.95% availability within a single data center
