Dear guests, members, and senators,
By means of this newsletter we would like to share with you all that the organization of JCI UC has been and will be doing throughout the course of this year. This is the first edition of our bulletin named after UC‐US, which is a combination of our name and slogan “JCI U‐C US CREATING POSITIVE CHANGE. It is the intention to distribute a newssheet on a bi‐monthly basis. In case you missed out one of our events, meetings, or trainings you will be able to easily catch up thanks to this new initiative.
This year is another great opportunity to continue with the JCI movement by creating even greater impact within our community, as well as internationally, and hopefully around the world. Hence we cannot stop investing in ourselves. To become day by day a better leader than yesterday we certainly do believe that one must:

The handover process was done during our first GMM of 2015, where the board of 2014 gratefully joined the assembly while the new local officers took the seats of their new positions. The board of 2015 consists of:

This year surely started off to greatness. The meeting room was full with guests, members, and senators. During the free word session we were amazed by our guests who showed their immense interest and
enthusiasm towards our organization. We even had a participant of Manera mi bos no tin dos, Kennen Fullick among us.
We had a special visit from JCI DC VP Rosetna Martinus who is in charge with our chapter for this year. As soon as she arrived at the Airport she managed to join us at Kura Hulanda to share with us all some wise words. She affirmed that even though she lives in Aruba, the long‐distance between us shall not be a concern. And that we can all
reach to her whenever it is needed for suggestions or help.

Your future can best be determined if you know your history. Senator Louisa, co‐founder of this chapter (former named after JCI Universities of Dutch Caribbean) never gave up…
It was a thoughtful yet an emotive evening as the assembly silently and attentively listened to the person who believed in the meaning and existence of this chapter and continued pushing forward until his hard work started to pay off.
Although he had many people who helped him along the way, at this moment Steven and Jo‐Anne Krips are the only two who remained active.
We need to know our history, to determine our future…

He shared both the beautiful and great experiences as well as the less pleasant ones. But all by all he certainly transmitted a clear message to anyone that was present that night:
Determination is the key to success.
No matter how many barriers you may encounter one must not become discourage and give up. From all the years that have passed by, the change of name, and the members who have come and left, one thing that never changed was the feeling of a family. Either you belong here or you don’t.

January Turnover Meeting 2015 January Turnover Meeting 2015 hosted by JCI IOBA was without any doubt a great success. Among all the other leaders whom took part of this extraordinary event, we had eight members of JCI UC who attended the activities. We do truly appreciate the interests shown by each one of these members to grow more as a leader by learning even more and certainly value their dedication towards the organization of JCI. We also would like to encourage all those who were not able to attend, to make use of the various upcoming national events where you’ll be able to interact with other JCI members and obtain tips and tricks that will eventually help you with your own personal development process as well as your meaning within JCI United Citizens of Curaçao.
For those who were not present it is a pleasure to share with you some of the most significant occurrences that happened during this two‐day experience. On the Friday day morning the program started off at 9:00AM with meetings between JCI Dutch Caribbean and the local presidents namely Dupal Persaud (JCI CLIC), Silvetty de la Paz (JCI UC), Milagros Rodriguez Navarro (JCI IOBA Curaçao), Josaphatrich de Campo (JCI Aruba), Roderick Hoek (JCI YALA), Junalis Zelagas (JCI Willemstad), and Shekiba Cornelius‐York (Representative of JCI St. Martin). During lunch Mr. Lars Hajslund was invited as keynote speaker to share with us the abilities and experience gain as an international networker. Later on we had the opportunity to attend two different trainings: Reinvent yourself by Sueena Francisco and Take off to greatness by Mr. Marvin Pollack. They were both very interactive and inspirational sessions.
During the opening ceremony National VP of JCI Dominican Republic Yohanley Rodriguez shared with the audience her experience in JCI since the day she started until this moment. Later that evening JCI CLIC enlarged their chapter with the installation of a new member, Nalize Antonia. Afterwards it was all tears when two members were called on stage and were honored to be installed as Senators. We are referring to two hardworking members who have given their all to this organization due to their love to make things happen and helping hand whenever it was needed and their courage to take risks and go for changes for a better community. We are proud of Franchesca Louisa‐Marval and Maharo Isenia as Senators.
On Saturday the second day, we started off with the General Assembly meeting. During lunch Eldrion Regina became the center of attention with his motivational speech focused on leadership development. Afterwards we had two trainings and one teambuilding session to conclude the day events: There’s no such thing as time management given by Ms. Cindy Macintos, Unleash the leader within by Elton Villarreal and Nevita Mezas, Teambuilding by Mr. Marvin Pollack.
After two intensive days of trainings and meetings the 2015 JTOM ended with a BIG BANG with the JCI Super Heroes Jump In. The closing ceremony was realized based on the carnival season and in the form of a jump in. The bash was entertained by DJ Atley and a brass band group as a surprising act.

Our JCI President, Ismail Haznedar will be arriving to JCI Dutch Caribbean very soon. He will be visiting Curaçao and Aruba from Sunday, February 8th, 2015 through Monday, February 9th, 2015. According to the program Curaçao will be his first stop hence we would appreciate your presence during the following activities: Sunday – February 8th, 2015 12:15 Arrival at the Airport 15:00‐16:15 Project Showcase 18:15‐20:15 Meet and Greet
During the Project Showcase we will exhibit our biggest project at the moment which is MANERA MI BOS NO TIN DOS. It is the intention to have a few participants of MMBNTD involved with this presentation to convey their part of the story. Specific details about these two events will be provided through an official email. We sincerely hope you can all be part of this experience in a way that shows that we are ready to commit, connect, and care for JCI and those who surround us.
Good to know Ismail Haznedar is a strategist and business consultant, with a successful professional experience in start‐up, business modelling and value creation process of companies. Presently he is the Managing Director of Stratejik Isler, a consultancy company focusing on growth, development, and strategy execution. He is a certified Management Consultant (CMC) and fellow member of Strategic Planning Society (SPS).
He was born in 1976 in Tetovo, Macedonia. He graduated from Middle East Technical University (METU), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 2000. In addition he completed Master’s Degree on Marketing at Marmara University in 2005. He speaks Turkish and English.
Ismail’s strongest proficiencies are: Growth; Development; Strategic Planning; Competitive Analysis, Strategy Execution; Controlling; Leadership; Entrepreneurship.
Need to know During his journey within JCI Ismail participated to nine Area Conferences, six World Congress, and three Global Partnership Summit. Ismail Haznedar served as member of the 2013 Strategic Planning Committee.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING UNIVERSITY (LTU) brings together incoming leaders from across the country for an intensive multi‐state conference to learn everything they need to know to run their chapters in the coming year. Session topics include: ‐ making an impact in your community ‐ understanding what constitutes a healthy chapter ‐ keeping chapters legally and financially compliant ‐ building strong chapter boards ‐ effective communication with members, potential members, and civic leaders ‐ understanding the membership database, the website, and other tools and resources Our Madam President Silvetty de la Paz, was honored to be part of the Leadership Training Academy (LTU) organized by JCI USA thanks to the sponsorship of Insel Air and of course the contribution of each member of JCI UC. Luckily, Silvetty was not alone in Atlanta, GA, she was well accompanied by fellow JCI members from the Dutch Caribbean family, namely, JCI VP for the Americas Candice Henriquez and JCI Willemstad President Junalis Zelagas. Contrary to the years before the 2015 LTU was divided into four locations:

During the LTU we had the opportunity to present a current project. Once more MANERA MI BOS NO TIN DOS had a chance to shine amongst a vast audience. We know for sure that our Madam President will bring with her a bundle of knowledge, tips and tricks to share with us and strengthen our chapter.

The JCI Movement started on October 13, 1915 by one active citizen who had a passion for positive change. Since then, millions of other young active citizens have united to create sustainable impact in their communities. As we embark on an exciting future, we must take time to remember our past. Each year of the JCI Movement takes us one step closer to better communities and a better world. Join us for the 100th Anniversary of the JCI Movement: Celebrating 100 Years of Impact.
To make this year an unforgettable celebration there a few ways to we as a chapter can implement. And these are: Conduct Project Impact 100 JCI’s vibrant global community consists of nearly 5,000 JCI Local Organizations in more than 120 countries. If each of JCI’s 5,000 Local Organizations around the world conduct a Project Impact 100, our collective actions will form a global grassroots movement positively impacting the lives of half a million individuals around the world in one year. Plan a documentary Screening A documentary will be premiering worldwide. We could make good use of this chance to share JCI’s past, present, and future with our community. Submit Your Organization’s History This is the time to share our chapter’s history by submitting stories of local projects, initiatives, events, and the positive change created. Last but not least we count on your support and creativity to make this celebration even bigger.
