Our Story...

Hi. We are Deidre and Jason. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about us and our family. We understand you have a very difficult choice to make, but know that we would welcome your baby into our home and hearts with loving arms.

Fate brought us together at the most perfect time. Deidre had just finished her bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and was working as an assistant teacher in a daycare. Jason, on the other hand, had just moved back to Michigan from Alaska where he worked in the oilfield. One evening, Jason stumbled across Deidre’s dating profile online and decided to send her a message with a funny pick-up line. The message caught her attention, and we found ourselves talking on the phone nearly every night for two straight weeks. We eventually went on our first date to the Detroit Winter Blast, which worked out so well that we ended up going bowling afterward. We officially became a couple in February 2011, was engaged in February 2012, and married in July 2013.

Since tying the knot, we’ve been blessed with three wonderful children. However, adoption has been on our hearts for some time. Deidre has a syndrome that makes pregnancy high risk, so we began thinking about adoption after we had our second child. We truly feel that this is the right path to take in order to complete our family.

I feel blessed every day to have Jason in my life. He is the best husband and a loving father to our children. I cherish his fun, loving personality and his work ethic. He provides for our family on so many levels. Aside from the time he spends at work as an Engineer and Landlord, he makes our family and home a priority.

Jason includes the family in his time at home. His love for our kids is reflected in his hobbies. Not only does he teach them about cars, home repairs, and woodworking, but he also built the most important piece of furniture in our home with them in mind – our dining table and bench. We eat dinner at that table every night, together. It’s a place where our kids color, build things and laugh.

He’s not all about work though. Jason makes sure that playing is a regular part of our day. He enjoys running around with the kids outside, playing games, taking them on bike rides and hiking through our wooded property. Jason is a man that doesn’t cut corners at work and doesn’t waste moments at home. He has so much love to give and so much to teach to our growing family.

I feel blessed every day to have Deidre. She is the best wife and mother to our children. She pulls the whole family together by preparing sit down dinners and orchestrating family gatherings. Kid’s birthday parties include all the children’s extended family. Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings are coordinated by her as well!

Deidre is great at providing the love and care that our three children need from her. She is a stay-at-home mom who enjoys cooking, playing with the children, and running errands during the day. She takes each of the children to swim class and the oldest to school and dance class. The kids all tag-along for trips to the grocery store and she joins them for arts and crafts and playing games. I’ll never know how she manages it all, but she does so gracefully and with a big smile always on her face!

Deidre is the driving force in the expansion of our family. She works so hard at giving our children as much attention as possible. I know that Deidre has the time, energy and drive to give this same level of careful attention to another child. Not every Mom can do it, but she can.

We are blessed to have three wonderful biological children, who are all excited to add a new sibling into the family!

Veronica, born in May 2014, is our only and oldest girl. She is like a little mommy and loves to help take care of her younger brothers and her baby dolls. She loves going to school, dance, and swim classes. She loves to go to our library close by and also playing outside in our big yard.

Frederick, born in December 2015, is the middle child. He loves to play with tools and cars. He also can be found helping Daddy work on stuff using his pretend tools. Fred is very determined when he puts his mind to doing something. He loves to play with his siblings and loves the outdoors.

Gilbert, born in December 2017, is our littlest one. He is always so smiley unless hurt, tired or hungry. He loves to follow his older siblings around and explore his surroundings. He also loves tools, cars, and playing outdoors.

Our dog, Bella, is our oldest baby. She is a black lab mix. Bella is the friendliest, most well-behaved dog you could ever ask for in a house with small children. She lets the kids lay and cuddle with her and she loves when the kids or anyone throws her ball or Frisbee outside!

We live on a quiet, rural street in a town just outside of Flint, Michigan. Our house is on 12 acres, down in a gulley, surrounded by lots of trees. Even though we are in the country with lots of space, there are still plenty of things to do around the house. We have a pond, playscape, and volleyball court in our yard. There are also lots of walking trails on our property and a lake that you can swim or fish in.

Our house is perfect for a growing family. The upstairs has four big bedrooms, while the downstairs features an open floor plan, complete with a big game room. Our kids love living here and having all the land to play on!

We’re only twenty minutes away from all the amenities we need, and just thirty minutes from a bigger city. We have the choice of four schools in which to send the kids. They all have high ratings and offer a variety of extracurricular activities.

Jason’s parents are two country blocks away from us, so we visit them often. His mom is usually our go-to babysitter! The kids also see Deidre’s parents about once or twice a month, and have daily phone calls with them. All of our extended family are supportive and very excited to welcome a new addition into our family.

Summer: We do lots of campfires in our backyard! On the Fourth of July, we go to a morning parade nearby and then, at night, we go to Deidre’s aunt’s house to watch fireworks in her backyard. We also host an annual July potluck party at our house where there is volleyball, fireworks, a campfire, and tons of food to eat.

Fall: We like to rake leaves and jump in them! We go to a pumpkin patch and each child gets to pick out their pumpkins. Halloween the kids go trick or treating downtown, where they block the roads off for trick or treaters. We do an early Thanksgiving with Deidre’s family and then spend Thanksgiving Day at Jason’s parents’ house.

Winter: In December, we celebrate Gilbert’s, Deidre’s, and Frederick’s, Bella’s, and Jesus’ birthdays. We always decorate the house for Christmas and love getting a tree from the farm just down the road. On Christmas Eve, we go to the children’s mass at church. Then, on Christmas Day, we stay home and the kids’ grandparents usually come over to visit.

Spring: On Easter Day, after the kids search for their baskets and eggs, we go to church and visit Jason’s parents for Easter dinner. In spring, we also celebrate Veronica’s birthday. The kids love to splash and play in the rain!

Thank YouWe hope you enjoyed and saw in our profile how much fun we have as a family. We love to do many different activities, even if it’s just at home, and can’t wait to do these activities with another little one alongside us.

If chosen as an adoptive family, we promise to provide a safe and loving home for your child. We promise that they will feel that they are and always will be a part of our family. We will give this child the opportunity to explore their interests, to try new things and to be curious about the world. Most importantly, we will always support them and encourage them to reach for the stars. Our extended family will also be behind your child, supporting them in whatever it is they would like to do in life.

We would love to get to know you and have you be part of our family through open adoption, if that is something you desire. We’d also be happy to keep you updated through letters and photos as this child grows. No matter what, you can rest assured that your child will always know about their adoption story and understand that the adoption was planned out of love to provide the best care for them.

We wish you the best as you decide what is right for you and your child.
