The Betrayal

Jason was from Iolcus (modern day Volos)

His father was Aeson, King of Iolcus

Aeson was betrayed by Pelias (his half-brother)

All of Aeson’s children were killed

Jason survived because he was born during the attack, and

presumed still-born

Jason was raised, in hiding, by Chiron the centaur

An oracle said one day Pelias would be overthrown
