Greetings!

cordial invitation for 3rd All India Inter University National Qawwali Competition (JASHN-E-
QAWWALI).
The Shivaji University, Kolhapur strives hard for organization of various Youth Programmes
based on Personality development, National integration, Capacity building, Mind training,
Leadership development and Nation building. The University also made special attention towards
human resource development and cultural heritage and its sustenance.
It gives me immense pleasure to communicate you that Shivaji University, Kolhapur is
organizing and hosting the 3rd Inter-University National Qawwali Competition 2018-19 under
the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi on October 22-23, 2018 to promote
and sustain the various forms of Qawwali as a part of rich cultural heritage of our country.
I request you to participate in the competition by deputing a team of your University and
extend your co-operation for making the competition a grand success. Please send your entries,

with list of Contingent.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
• The theme of Qawwali shall be based on National Integration and Communal Harmony. Out of two compositions, one will be based on the theme of National Integration and Communal Harmony.
• Each University will be allowed to send one team of 10 students either male or female or
both.
• Three accompanists (musicians) will be allowed.
• The duration of performance will be 12-15 minutes.
• The team will be required to bring their own musical instruments.
• The judgment will be based on theme, concept/idea, quality of singing, musical accompaniment; costumes etc.
• The judgment of the judges will be final and binding to all the teams.
PRIZES
• First Prize: Rs. 25,000, Certificate and Trophy
• Second Prize: Rs. 20,000, Certificate and Trophy
• Third Prize: Rs. 15,000, Certificate and Trophy
• Two Consolation Prizes: Certificate and Trophy
Note: if Two Teams/Universities are on same position of Rank/Prize then the prize will be shared with two teams/Universities. In these case cash prize will be shared by the two teams/Universities but they will be honoured with separate certificate and Trophy.
ELIGIBILITY • The student must be full time bonafide student enrolled under University for UG / PG /
M.Phil. / Ph.D. programme or any diploma course of a minimum duration of one academic year.
• Casual students, external students and students pursuing only bridge course from University are not eligible.

NAAC ‘A‘ Grade
• Student can represent only that University from where he/she is pursuing his/her
degree/diploma.
• Any disqualification of participant from the given eligibility criteria may result in removal of the contingent from the competition and the team will be debarred from Competition.
• The age of participants should not be more than 25 years as on July 31, 2018.
• No student will be allowed to participate if he/she is not admitted to the University for the current academic year.

REGISTRATION
Universities are requested to register their contingent online on the home page of website of Shivaji University,Kolhapur www.unishivaji.ac.in and click to the link 3
rd Inter-University
National Qawwali Competition. The last date of online registration is October 10 , 2018. It is further requested to fill the Registration Form (Given in Annexure I) and submit it along with other documents at the time of registration at the venue. The registration desk is available at the venue Shivaji University, Kolhapur) from October 21, 2018 (03:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) to October 22, 2018 (08:00 a.m. to 09:00 a.m.).
The team manager of participating university must submit following documents at the time of Registration at the venue- • Registration Form
• Valid Identity Card (Original) of all the participating students issued by their respective Universities (It will be given back to the team manager after checking)
• Photocopy of Valid Identity Card of all the participating students issued by their respective Universities
• Photocopy of SSC (10th Standard) Board Certificate of all the participating students
• Photocopy of Marksheet of Previously Passed Examination of all the participating
students
• Fee Receipt (Original) of all the participating students (It will be given back to the team manager after checking)
• Photocopies of Fee Receipt of all the participating students
• Passport size coloured photographs of all the participating students, Accompanists, Team
Managers, Cultural Coordinator, Director/Dean of Students’ Welfare/Development
REGISTRATION FEES Registration fees is Rs. 1000/- per person. For an example, if there are 15 persons in a team (including participants, accompanists and officials) consolidated participation fee would be Rs. 15000. Payment of registration fee must be made through a Bank Demand Draft (A/c Payee) drawn in favour of "Finance and Accounts Officer, Shivaji University, Kolhapur" payable at Kolhapur. Universities are requested to submit the registration fees in the form of D.D. at the time of Registration at the venue.

CAUTION MONEY
Each Participating university has to deposit Rs. 3000/- as caution money at the time of Registration at the venue. This money is refundable. However, in case of any damage or loss of property of the University/Vendor caused by any participant/appropriate amount shall be charged and deducted from the caution money and remaining amount will be refund back to the University.
TRAVEL PLAN
The Universities are requested to finalise their travel plan according to the Schedule. They should take a note of nearest railway stations while booking of railway tickets. The nearest railway stations to the is Chh. Shahu Maharaj Terminus, Kolhapur and Miraj Junction.
CONTINGENT LIMIT
The contingent of the University should consists of Maximum fifteen (15) participants including 10 bonafide student participants, three accompanists (musicians) and two team mangers (teachers). At any case extra members accompanying the team will not be entertained. The extra members should make the arrangement of their accommodation, food and travel at their own.
CONTINGENT LEADER / TEAM MANAGER
The contingent of the University should accompany with maximum two Contingent Leader/ Team Managers. If the team consists female participant/s then it is advisable to University to depute Lady Contingent Leader /Team Manager but total number of contingent should not exceed 15.
ACCOMMODATION
Simple type of Accommodation shall be available to all the participants. The temperature in the month of October will be in the range of 30°C to 33°C. Participants are requested to bring Cotton Cloths, light bedding, medicines, locks etc. The participants are requested not to bring valuable articles and they must take care of their belongings.
FOOD
The Food will be available at the Shivaji University, Kolhapur from the dinner on October 21, 2018 till the Dinner on October 23, 2018

• Consumption of liquor
• Smoking
• Eve teasing
• Attempt to influence the judges
• Going to the press/media against the University on any controversial issue
• Indecent behaviour inside and/or outside the campus and venue and at the place of stay

ABOUT SHIVAJI UNIVERSITY KOLHAPUR (MAHARASHTRA STATE)
Shivaji University, established in 1962, is named after the great warrior and founder
of the Maratha Empire Chchatrapati Shivaji. The University is located in the historical city
of Kolhapur, a land of great social reformer and princely ruler Rajarshi Shahu. Its campus
area is spread over about 850 acres with rich plant diversity.
HOW TO REACH KOLHAPUR:
Air: Nearest air ports are Mumbai, Pune, Belgavi and Goa.
Railway: Kolhapur terminus is connected with Miraj, Pune and Solapur junctions.
Road: Kolhapur is about 250 km from Pune, Solapur and Goa; 400 km from Mumbai and 600 km
from Benguluru on National Highway No. 4.
CLIMATE:
During the month of October climate conditions of Kolhapur are pleasant with temperature about
300C.
