Country he sailed for and purpose of explorationJacques Cartier was from France and sailed for them. He was curious and wanted to find many things like to find a Northwest Passage to Asia. He also wanted to discover new riches there and to colonize the New World.

Obstacles he encounteredJacques encountered very harsh winters and disease called scurvy. He also had bad fight with the Native Americans. This made it hard for him.

Result Of ExplorationHe discovered the St. Lawrence River which connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes.
