JLP Placement Test
New Students: The level of your Japanese Language ability will be determined by the result of the online Placement Test.• Without the Placement Test, you are not
allowed to take Japanese language classes, except for complete beginners.
• No retake of the placement test is allowed.
Tentative Level
If your placement test result is on the borderline between two levels, your level certificate may show仮(tentative), e.g. 仮4レベル = tentative level 4
• You may choose classes either at the level shown or at the level below.
• You may not mix levels.• Decide which level you want to register at for this
semester.
Class information
• See ‘A Guide to the Japanese Language Program at Kawauchi/特別課程の受講案内’ for details.
• You will be given information on the textbook and class schedule from your class instructor(s).
• Each class has its own lesson plan, exam schedule, and grading policy, which will be explained at the beginning of the class.

Extra Japanese Classes
• You may take elective Japanese classes on top of your compulsory classes and earn extra credits, except E000 and some exceptional elective classes.
• You cannot take more than one class with the same alphabet letter (e.g. G420 and G410, G420 and G320). Also, you cannot take B and G classes at the same time.
• If you choose to take an extra class, but find it unsuitable and decide to drop it, please notify both the class instructor(s) and the IPLA office.
Attendance
• You are required to attend at least ⅔ of your classes.If you must be absent from class, inform your class instructor directly or via a classmate.
• If you do not attend at least two-thirds of the total number of classes, you will receive a "D" (fail).
• If you are absent for two consecutive classes without a good reason, you may get taken off the class list.
• If possible, notify your class instructor of your absence in advance, and try to get any relevant class materials in order to catch up.
