board
Mar 15, 2013
In yet another signal that Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party is committed to returning the country to nuclear power, the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has removed six researchers with anti-nuclear views from thegovernment’s energy policy advisory council, Bloomberg reports.
Six of the eight council members who had voted in favor of phasing out nuclear power were dropped from the group, andanother ten members were reappointed, including the pro-nuclear Akio Mimura as chairman.
PM Shinzo Abe has said nuclear power will be essential in order to revive the Japanese economy.
