Januray – March 2015

AMEA Project - “Alimente bem esta Família”

The AMEA Project will take place between June 2015 and June 2016 and intends to support families with low socioeconomic income with adolescents above 12 years old. AMEA is included in the activity plan of the European Project OPEN (EU funded), where MUN-SI is participating. Between January and March we selected 5 municipalities which will participate: Oeiras, Odivelas, Paredes, Figueira da Foz and Águeda. The kick off reunion was held in CEIDSS office, in March 31st, 2015.

The participating families will be identified by the municipalities and the programme will provide home visits by a nutritionist who will guide each family, for 6 months, in order to plan a health strategy to change their lifestyle. Nutritional status evaluation, individual counseling for malnutrition, diet planning for the entire family, visits to the supermarket for guidance on the acquisition of healthy food according to the family income, healthy cooking workshops with local Chefs and activities

directed to adolescents are the actions included in this intervention that we are going to announce soon (Facebook challenge).

“Eat Mediterranean” PROJECT – EEA Grants

CEIDSS is happy to announce the approval of the project “Eat Mediterranean” where it will participate as partner. The project is coordinated by the Regional Directorate of Lisbon and Tagus Valley (ARS Lisboa e Vale do Tejo) funded by the EEA Grants. The project is directed to all scholar communities from Santarém and Alpiarça, predicting the participation of 6000 children. This is a community based intervention programme with the aim of contributing to the reduction of nutritional inequalities in schools by promoting the Mediterranean diet. It follows the public health intervention strategy, recommended by World Health Organization, giving priority to school environment, based on the educational community and a network of partnerships.
