2017 is staring us in the face even at the moment of this writing. God in His grace and goodness has given us another year. What we do with this time is in our hands. God has commanded us to seek Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Is there another authority higher than Him to whom you would choose to obey? The person or persons to which we answer yes is our authority. No
will only flow down from you when you are in authority. Oswald Chambers wrote in his powerful devotional book My Utmost For His Highest “It is not study that brings understanding to you, but obedience.” How obedient do we want to become in 2017? How blessed do we want to be in 2017? How much Christian growth do we want to have in 2017? It all lines up with the Lordship of Christ in our lives. Think about how you would answer these questions as we enter 2017. Is there anything God wants me to start doing? Is there anything God wants me to stop doing? Is there any reason not to do what God wants? 2017 can be our greatest year of obedience to God. It can also rock along and become just another wasted year of drifting away from God and His abundant purpose for our lives. In a practical way here are a few thoughts on how to better obey this year. Begin the year with an act of obeying what you already know. Our next step is not always something new. It is probably something to obey that you have already learned. What is it that you already know from God’s word that you can follow? Start with an awareness of the known and make it priority in your life. Choose to say yes to the next thing the Holy Spirit speaks to you about an opportunity to obey. God is constantly speaking into our lives. Witness to your neighbor, encourage that person in front of you who is struggling with the kids, offer service to the need that is presented before you, or help your spouse or child. Spend quality time with family, children or grandchildren. Make something in the Kingdom of God a priority and say no to anything that would distract you from it. When you hit a crossroad, go God’s way. Plan on obeying God at the next fork in the road. When you can go your way or God’s way it will hit you in the face. In that moment, choose God’s way. My prayer this year is that I will grow in the Lordship of Christ. It is also my prayer for our church. You are loved, Scott
Young at Heart is taking a break until the Spring. Please watch for

Thank you to everyone who came out and sup-ported “Christmas at Fairhaven” presented by our Worship Ministry and special guest artists
Christina Major Davis and Greg Wiggins. They were both blessed by your hospitality and I am thankful we are able to bring other talent and fellow believers to be apart of our family as we worship our great Savior together. I hope it was a highlight of the Christmas Season for you and your family and I look forward to many more. Happy New Year! Andrew & Brittany
