No School: January 15 th ! Just a reminder, newsletters will not be mailed out to all local patrons. Hard copies will be available at the school, Community Library, in local churches and businesses, and at Suppesville Gas Station. We will send newsletters via e-mail attachment monthly to all households with students enrolled at Norwich School. If you wish to be added to the e-mail list and you do not have a student enrolled, please contact Megan Dheming at the school (620-478-2235, [email protected]), and we will add you to our e-mail newsletter list. The newsletter will also be posted on the Norwich School Website monthly (www.knusd331.com). January Notes From the Principal’s Desk… Norwich Spirit Flags – Spirit flags are still available for the upcoming winter and spring seasons. Get your registration form through the newsletter, at the school, or from the booster club. The yearly rental fee is $50. 2018-19 Norwich Hall of Fame Nominations – Nomination forms for the 2018-2019 class are due by May 1, 2018. Forms are on the school website, or you can pick one up at the Norwich School office. Have a great 2018 – The start of a new year is always a great time to both reflect and charge forward with some new goals. I try to keep it rather simple with staff at Norwich School; give your very best each day and treat everyone with respect. I challenge students with these same two goals. If we all do these two things each day, the world would be a much better place. I wish you all happiness and a great 2018! WHERE TO LISTEN With the winter months ahead, it would be wise to review where you should listen to find out if school will be dismissed in case of bad weather. We make every effort to make this decision prior to the start of bus routes, but sometimes this is not possible. If we do not have school because of the weather, the following radio and T.V. stations will be notified: TV: KSN - 3, KAKE - 10, KWCH - 12 KEYN-FM (103.7) KZSN-FM (102.1) KZCH (96.3) KHCC-FM (90.1) KRBB B98FM (97.9) KTHR-FM (107.3) KHMY FM (93.1) KNSS-AM (1330) KFBZ-FM (105.3) KLIO-AM (1070) KFDI-FM (101.3) KFTI-FM (92.3) KYQQ-FM (106.5) KHUT-FM (102.9) KQZQ-FM (98.3) KFXJ-FM (104.5) KICT-FM (T95) KDGS-FM (93.9) Parents should receive an e-mail notice and/or phone call through the Skylert messaging system. If you do not receive this message, please contact the school office. We ask that parents who work please contact their childs teacher and/or office with instructions as to where the child should go if we close school during the day and nobody is home. This is extremely important for the younger students. The district has established a mud route procedure again this year. As you are aware, there are a number of roads in the district that become impassable under certain weather conditions. When the mud route procedure is in place, the parents will be contacted and pick-up points will be established that can be reached by our buses. This procedure was established with the safety of children in mind. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

FIRST DEADLINE HAS COME AND GONE!

The Yearbook Staff’s goal was to complete the fall section of the new chronological ladder. They have met this goal, and

the first deadline by submitting 16 pages to Jostens. They continue to work to complete pages as activities conclude. The

next deadline is the largest of all with 78

pages due in the spring. They have a good

start as they already have some pages

completed towards the next big deadline.

The people section which includes

portraits, clubs, and scoreboard pages are

progressing nicely. Check out a sneak peek

of one of the fall activity pages featured

here. Staff members are working several

hours outside of class time on pages as

well as covering events. Their continued

commitment is appreciated. If you see

them out and about taking photos or

working at various activities, please let

them know you appreciate their efforts.

Staff continues to encourage students, parents, and patrons to use the ReplayIt.com resource. With only three staff

members your help is greatly needed and appreciated. There is also a free app available. Thank you for supporting the

2018 yearbook staff.

December DARE Graduation The 5th Grade class would like to thank Officer Dustin Cooke for taking them through the DARE program. Officer Cooke came to the 5th grade class twice a week for five weeks to teach the DARE program. Students participated in weekly lessons and activities, and then completed the DARE program by submitting an essay. Officer Cooke’s essay panel chose Ava Shipley and Kruce Liddeke as the top essays. These two students read their papers for the graduation. We also had a guest speaker Assistant Kingman County Attorney, Brandon Ritcha, and SADD Board President, Payton Garrison. We would like to thank all of those who were able to make it to the graduation ceremonies. Also a thank you to Officer Cooke for providing us with pizza and drinks!
