Pandemic hits fair events hard

As the fight against Covid 19 continues, restrictions and lockdowns

also continue. The most important fairs of the maritime industry,

which are held every year, have also been postponed. The dates of

Boot Düsseldorf, which has been held in Düsseldorf, Germany for

many years and has a very important place for the sector, has

changed. Wolfram Diener, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, the organizer company and hosting service provider of

the fair, announced that the fair was first postponed to 17-25 April 2021, anticipating that the number of the

virus in Europe will decrease further. Shortly after, it was announced that it was postponed to January 22 -

30, 2022.

The uncertainty continued for the CNR Eurasia Boat Show, which is held in Istanbul every February, until the

last moment. Upon the heavy demand of exhibitors, visitors and all stakeholders, CNR Eurasia Boat Show was

first postponed to 20 - 28 March 2021 by Pozitif Fuarcılık to have a healthier, more efficient and beneficial

fair.

Yacht and Boat Industry Association (YATED), thereon, has started a legal process against Pozitif Fuarcılık to

postpone it to 2022 as the collaborative stakeholder of the fair. The long-standing uncertainty for exhibitors

and visitors ended with the statement of CNR Holding that they postponed the fair date to 19-27 February

2022.

On the other hand, Tuzla Boat Show announced that the land fair in February was cancelled and that it will

be held in Viaport Marina between 3 - 11 April 2021 in open air and on sea. Fairs, which are an important

meeting place for the sector every year and that could not be held in 2021, can be realized in a much more

magnificent and enthusiastic way in healthy days.

Meteorology opens special page for seafarers

A very detailed section specific to sailors was created by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM). The

"Piri Reis Maritime Page", which can be accessed from the "Maritime" tab on the official website of MGM,

contains detailed information including weather and sea forecasts for the sea area extending from the Strait

of Gibraltar to the Caspian

Sea and the coasts of the

country. The page, which

was previously created with

the name of "Marine

Forecasting System", was

expanded with the addition

of new and detailed

information and made it

address a wide range of

people from sea

transportation to fishermen

and amateur sailors. You

can take advantage.

Life fits in the boat!

Under the pandemic conditions, "Whether life fits in the house or

not" has become a debatable issue. Many people try to get used to

new conditions and limitations; and the number of families who

put life in a boat, rather than in a house, is increasing day by day.

Does a whole life fit in a small boat? Those who fit are satisfied.

Your home is always in nature, a view that changes every moment,

wherever you go, you go with your house, and you benefit from the

comfort of the marinas. What more could one ask for?

How many square meters of your house do you use in your daily routine, by the way? Even if you have a

house of 200 square meters, your life probably fits in 40 square meters at the utmost. Regardless of how

many square meters the boat is, it provides a more active life in and on it. At the same time, the marina area

expands your living space as a common use area.

Being a part of the nature where you live the most enjoyable moments of all four seasons turns into a passion

over time. A kind of purification is developing on all levels, there is no room for too many items for instance,

and over time it is understood that there is no need for them as you can only keep the items that are really

necessary on the boat.

Water and electricity are limited on the boat. The shower, toilet and dishwashing areas of the marina are

within walking distance. Boat neighborhoods are also different. In your life on the land, you may have

neighbours that you have never met or never found common ground. In this case, the common point with

your neighborhoods around your boat would be the passion for the sea. So one can say that the friendships

established are completely different.

It is also possible to spend the winter months on the boat. If the boat has good insulation, it is easier to heat

the small area thanks to the heating system. Living on a boat in the winter also protects the boat very much

because it prevents moisture.

Marina life offers a healthy alternative lifestyle where you can socialize and experience nature without

crowds, for eating, drinking and shopping opportunities and short walks . Life fits in the boat.

Easy meal on the boat:

A local flavor

Here is a delicious recipe for our yachtsmen: Roasted

local herbs Sarmaşık (ivy) and arapsaçı (fennel) with

eggs: You need 1 bunch of ivy and fennel herb, 1 onion,

2 eggs, olive oil, salt and black pepper.

Wash ivy and fennel and cut off the stalks. Rip the

fresh parts by hand as the herbs both become bitterish

when you cut them with a knife. Roast the chopped

onion in olive oil, then add ivy and fennel. Instead of onions, green parts of fresh onions or leeks can also be

added. While cooking, use a wooden spoon instead of a metal spoon. Add a little water and cook on low heat

until the herbs soften. Add a pinch of salt and pepper after the water in it drains. After this stage, break the

eggs on it and stir a bit. Eat with yoghurt with garlic or plain. Enjoy your meal!…

Have you seen our new brochures?

You can obtain Teos Marina's renewed brochures for its services, the

oceanographic map of the region and the informative brochure the

surrounding bays from Teos Marina Front Office. Useful information about

the bays and the map to be used in cruises is a must-have study for all

yachtsmen.

In particular, bays can be folded and kept in every boat by folding the

brochure. In addition, considering the difficulty of storing the printed

brochure, the digital version can be downloaded directly to the mobile

phone by scanning the QR code.

Be sure to get the brochure with 21 sheep on the map…

Pay attention to Poseidon’s seagrasses!

Boat anchors threaten 'sea meadows'. The 'seagrass' (Posidonia oceanica) which is an endemic plant species

unique to the Mediterranean and Aegean area named after the Greek sea god Poseidon, is now in danger of

extinction. The Poseidon meadow, known as the oxygen reservoir of the seas, is threatened by the boat

anchors and chains drifting along the bottom of the sea.

Sea meadows produce oxygen, clean the water and they are the food of many living things. Meadows, also

called sea noodles, are also a hiding and breeding ground for living things. They purify the water biologically

and prevent erosion in the sea.

Scientists studying the pollution of the Mediterranean coasts discovered that sea meadows filter plastic

wastes and trap them in bundles of fibers known as "Neptune balls".

Emphasizing that sea meadows are vital for the ecosystem with their fiber production capacity, scientists

announced that sea meadows can trap 900 million plastic waste in the Mediterranean every year.

The plant, which has

approximately 70 species

in the world, plays a vital

role in improving water

quality, absorbing carbon

dioxide and producing

oxygen in the seas. In

order to protect the sea

meadows, which have

many benefits in the

ecosystem, all sailors

need to do is look at the

bottom of the sea before

anchoring and choose

places without

seagrasses. We hope

that the sea meadows

will never disappear.

Would you like to get a ‘Blue Flag’

for your boat?

Blue Flag on yachts is a flag given to yachts that apply the criteria set for

environmental management, environmental education and information, life

safety and services for a year.

Yachts that are moored in a Blue Flagged marina; the ones that

environmentally conscious, certify with the Blue Card that they regularly give

their waste water, bilge and solid wastes to licensed waste collection facilities, set an example for other

yachts in protecting the environment will be entitled to hang the Blue Flag. The flag given indicates that the

yacht owner acts environmentally friendly and he/she voluntarily complies with the rules and criteria.

With the flag you will hang on your yacht; you will contribute to the minimization of negative environmental

impacts that may arise from yachts on the coasts, and you will encourage volunteer work for the seas by

creating awareness among other yachtsmen through environmental education and awareness. And with

your leadership, you will come forward in society. Yachts that are entitled to hang the flag will be announced

on the Blue Flag website and will be included in the catalogs.

Applications will be received for the following year in November and December under the coordination of

marinas that are also Blue Flag nominee. Application forms are obtained from the Marina Blue Flag Officer,

TÜRÇEV or www.mavibayrak.org.tr. The form must be filled in within the given time under the coordination

of the Marina Blue Flag Officer and the yacht owner, and submitted to the Marina Blue Flag Officer with the

requested documents.

Information boards and flags to be hung on yachts are sent by the National Blue Flag Jury Committee in May.

This process will be renewed every year.
