On February 17, thousands
of devotees and new seekers
after truth returned to the
open grounds of the Patia
Big Bazaar for satsang.
Maharaj Ji explained how
saints come to help us find
our way back to God. De-
scribing the story of creation,
the spiritual Master related
how God created all the uni-
verses and sent out parts of
God, souls, to inhabit the different regions. This human
birth was given to us as an opportunity to work our way
back to God, and this is the sole purpose of our lives, he
said. At the time of initiation, our third eye is opened
by the Master Power; we are taught the technique of
meditation and are connected with the light and sound
of God. The treasures of divinity are made accessible to
us and with daily practice we can take quick steps on
our journey back to God.
Maharaj Ji released three books translated in the local
language of Oriya, and later granted initiation to a large
number of new seekers. e

referred to as the “Temple
City of India.”
A musical performance announced their arrival to the
pandal in Patia Big Bazaar. Mata Rita Ji sang a hymn
from the scriptures; the theme of the hymn as well as
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji’s satsang was the plight of the
soul when separated from the Lord. Just as a fish out
of water yearns to be back in life-giving waters, so
too does our soul, which has been separated from its
Source for eons, yearn to return to the Lord.
This dark night of the soul only comes to end when the
grace of God shines upon the soul, extinguishing the
pain of separation and uplifting the soul so that it may
travel back to its Source.

Valentine’s Day with Maharaj Ji
On February 14, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj dedicated the Sunday satsang to the topic of love.
He said that along with the outer exchange of gifts and cards on Valentine’s Day, we need to
realize the spiritual significance behind this
day. We come into this world on the basis of love;
every particle in this world is based on love, because
God—an Ocean of all love—made this Creation. Our
souls, sent to inhabit this world, are all parts of God
and as such are of the same essence as God, he said.
In other words, at our core, we are also all love. We are
pulled to wherever we feel love, whether in another
person or even animals and plants.
God uses this same mechanism of love to pull us
back to our Source. Since we cannot see God with
our physical senses, God works through the medium
of the saints so our soul can behold the power of the
Lord and experience God’s love. As we experience
divine love radiating from a spiritual Master, we are pulled toward him more than to anything else in this
outer world. As we progress on our spiritual journey and travel through the inner spiritual realms under
the protection and guidance of the Master Power, we reach the goal of reunion of our soul with God, the
merger of the drop of love back into the Ocean of Love.
We need to make time daily for our spiritual practices to experience the truth, God’s love, and the flight of
our soul back to our eternal Beloved.
Explaining the verses of Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj (1921–1989), the mystic poet who wrote volumes
on the topic of love, Maharaj Ji reiterated that our soul is full of the love of God and is not limited by
the boundaries of countries or cultures. It is only when we remain at the level of the senses that we feel
bound, limited, and different from others, he said. We tend to lean on the ability of our intellect to under-
stand our true nature, but the intellect is an attribute of our mind and will not help us experience our true
nature at the level of the soul.
Once we begin to experience the love and light of God within us in meditation, we start to see it in every
particle of the universe. Maharaj Ji concluded by encouraging the sangat on this Valentine’s Day to focus
on the one true goal of life so we may find our reunion with God and experience the everlasting intoxica-
tion of the divine love that awaits us within. e

29th International Human Unity Conference
February 5 marked the inaugural session of the 29th International Human Unity Conference,
organized each year to pay homage to Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj (1894–1974) whose birth
anniversary falls on February 6.
Presided over by Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, the conference serves to promote Sant
Kirpal Singh Ji’s message of human unity and spiritual awakening. The popular program attracts
interfaith leaders and participants from around the world with close to 100,000 in
attendance. Photos below are from the conference, held at Sant Darshan Singh Ji Dham, Delhi.
At the inaugural session, religious heads and
foreign delegates assembled on the dais to
discuss the topic “Meditation: Way to Lasting
Peace.” Maharaj Ji described humanity’s endless
search for peace and cited duality as the reason
for widespread tension, turmoil, and strife in this
world.
We live in a state of duality, he said, thinking we
are different and better than others. This hap-
pens because we identify with ourselves at the
level of body and mind, far removed from the
reality of our existence on the soul-level. As we
unravel the truth of our existence, we find that
we are, at our core, soul, a part of God, and that
all other bodies are also enlivened by a part of
God. We find that we are all united in spirit, and
when we interact with others we do so in a spirit
of love, compassion, and service.
As this happens, we will begin to find a continu-
ous fountain of peace within us, radiating it to all
we meet. e

schools by an independent national survey
that placed Darshan Academy among the top
schools in India and Delhi.

SANT RAJINDER SINGH JI MAHARAJ ADDRESSED THE MEDI-
CAL FRATERNITY OF INDIA on the topic “Meditation and
Spirituality for Healthier Living.” Maharaj Ji was wel-
comed by several dignitaries, including the Minister of
Science and Technology. In his talk he said that while the
spiritual aspect forms the basis of our lives, we tend to
live at the level of our body, emotions, and intellect.
Spirituality impacts each and every moment of our life,
and cannot be compartmentalized into one or two hours
a day when we say our prayers or perform our spiritual
practices, he said. For healthier living it is imperative that
the spiritual part of our being is nurtured. Sant Rajinder
Singh Ji emphasized that meditation is a great tool to
alleviate numerous health issues that are stress-related,
although the real purpose of meditation is to realize our
true nature as soul and reunite it with God. e
