Many times I’ve heard that what makes you a tru-
ly good and honest person is how you act and what
you do when no one is watching. It is easy to do the
right thing when you are at church or when other
people are around to “remind” you what is right and
wrong. In those times when you find yourself with
an opportunity to do something and “not get
caught,” remind yourself that God gave us our con-
science to keep us in check. He hears all things and
knows all things. He knows every thought we
have, so listen to the still small voice that guides us
through each day.
Jeremy Scott
Time
We are all given the same amount of time each
day. We are productive for part of our time, and
waste some too.
I was going to a hospital visit and listening to a
radio station of Bible teaching. A question caught
my attention: Do you waste time with God?
Do we sit in His presence?
Be still and know...Psalm 46:10
Look the passage up and meditate on it today.
Frankie
"Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to
have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for
which God has called me heavenward in Christ
Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
It is very important that we as Christians remem-
ber always, that we love a God who is a God of first,
second, third, fourth, and one hundred or more
chances, if we need His forgiveness. It is im-
This year one of my goals is to see all
of us at Valley Grove read through
the New Testament. Why do we need
to read God’s Word every day?
Recently I came across this from
Charles Stanley and thought it would be
helpful to all of us.
1. God’s Word leads us to salvation.
Although many of us came to
Christ by hearing about Him from
another person, the way of
salvation is clearly revealed by
simply reading John 3:16, Rom.
10:9. We are all saved by believing
the truth of Scripture whether we
read it ourselves or are taught it by
someone else (1 Peter 1:23).
2. The Scriptures guide our steps. If
we read and heed the Lord’s
instructions, He will show us where
to go, what to say, and how to
make decisions. His Word also
reveals when we’re heading the
wrong direction and warns us of
the consequences of continuing
down that path.
3. God’s Word directs us to wisdom.
Scripture is our greatest protection.
It’s like a shield before us,
guarding our way and warning of
danger. But if we neglect reading
and obeying the Word, we won’t be
able to distinguish right from
wrong.
4. It lifts our burden. Because the
Lord is interested in every aspect of
our lives, we can run to His Word
in our pain, grief, loneliness, or
sickness and receive help In our
time of trouble.
5. The Word of God brings joy. If we
love the Word, we’ll find great joy
and comfort in reading it. When
facing tough situations and
discouragement, our first response
will be to open the Scriptures. Even
if we don’t know where to read, the
Lord will guide us to a passage
which can restore our hope and joy.
And if we don’t have a Bible with
us, He can bring to mind the verses
that we’ve stored in our hearts.
Once we experience how the
Scriptures can change sorrow into
joy, our love for the Lord and His
Word will increase and overflow in
praise and gratitude.
6. The Scriptures give peace. Perhaps
the most desired possession in the
world is peace, but it can only be
found in the Lord. “Those who love
Your law have great peace, and
nothing causes them to
stumble” (Psalm 119:165). Peace
means to be bound to something,
and when that something is the
Word of God, we are bound to
Him and experience the peace
Jesus promised to His disciples
(John 14:27).
God honors and is committed to
blessing those who respect and love His
precious Word. It is the most valuable
possession we own because it is His
written message to us. From Genesis to
Revelation, God reveals His mind and
heart. Everything else will pass away,

AREAS OF SERVICE SCHEDULE
Pray for our children
As the New Year quickly approaches, I
challenge Valley Grove to make a
commitment to pray for our church chil-
dren. Prayer is something everyone can do and is
a great investment in children's lives. Sunday School
classes may take a group of children to pray for.
In an effort to help, the children are completing an Interest Sur-
vey about themselves, and a picture will be attached.
Some life-changing prayers may include:
1. Receive Eternal Life (John 3:16)
2. Protection from the devil (Psalm 121; Joshua 1:9)
2 – Jesus and Zacchaeus
6 – Primeval History
9 - The Parable of the Sower – Create Sock Puppets
13 – Abraham
16 – The Unmerciful Servant
20 – Canon and Abraham’s Descendants
23 – The Good Samaritan
27 – Exodus
30 – Three Parables Love, Mary
Cleaning a home is hard work if done right. Have you
every observed another’s home and thought, “Oh wow, this
house needs more than a “lick and a promise?” Would you
like to help others clean their home and “get-er-done” right?
Transfer that thinking to The Parable told by Jesus in Luke
18:9-14. It’s about a Pharisee and a Tax Collector who went
at the same time to pray in the temple. It could have been
New Year’s Day, who knows. The worthless and hated tax
collector had a honest evaluation of his dirty heart and soul.
He humbly asked The Lord for cleansing.
However, the religious Pharisee loved his perfect life so
much that he began to look down his nose at others who did
wrong. He was so RIGHT he slowly became WRONG in his
attitude and actions. He refused to see his “soiled soul”
because he was occupied with “dirt gazing” on another.
Let’s be honest in order to be clean as we begin 2019.
Praise The Lord for His blood that cleanses us from all our
dirty thoughts and actions. Let’s not compare, let’s confess!
