Dear colleague,

This year, more than 5,000 IT networking and communications professionals from across Europe are gathering together under one roof for Networkers at Cisco Live. The theme for this year’s event is knowledge is power, and the ongoing enthusiasm and interest in the event clearly demonstrate that those words have a compelling meaning for Cisco customers and partners. The reason is simple: in a challenging economic climate, knowledgeable people and companies have a clear competitive edge. Networkers at Cisco Live is a proven investment that pays long-term dividends by giving you the knowledge and skills you need to make a powerful difference in your career and workplace.

At this year’s event, you’ll have a choice of more than 200 technical sessions, including breakouts, lab sessions, and Technical Seminars, so you can build a conference agenda that best meets your specific needs. You can also update your professional certifications through our on-site testing centre and solve your networking challenges with the help of the Cisco experts at the Technical Solutions Design Clinics. During the week’s keynote and Super Session addresses, you’ll gain new insight into the trends and technologies shaping the industry. At our interactive Technology Panels and case study sessions, you can learn how other organisations are deploying Cisco technologies to address their unique challenges. And if you want to see real-world technology in action, you can explore the World of Solutions and see live demonstrations of Cisco and partner products.

You’ve told us that one of the things you value most about previous Networkers events is the opportunity to catch up with old friends and peers and meet Cisco experts, executives, and partners. This year’s event is no exception. In addition to the social events planned for the week, you can join our Cisco Experts for a drink and a bite to eat at one of our “Birds of a Feather” sessions, and you can connect directly with the people responsible for the design of Cisco solutions at the popular “Meet the Engineer” program.

You’ll also receive a year’s free subscription to Cisco Live Virtual as part of your conference package. Cisco Live Virtual is a unique online environment that extends and enhances your conference experience and connects you with a worldwide network of peers who share your interests. With Cisco Live Virtual, you can also access on-demand session content, review videos of keynote addresses, and explore the virtual World of Solutions exhibition.

After a busy day at the conference, there is no shortage of things to do and see in this vibrant Catalonian city. For example, you can take a stroll along Las Ramblas, go on a tour of Barcelona Football Club’s famous Nou Camp stadium, or take a trip up to Park Guell for some fantastic views of the city.

Networkers at Cisco Live 2010 promises to be a great event – one that can enrich your career and make your business more competitive. I look forward to seeing you in Barcelona.

Sincerely,

Amanda Jobbins, Vice President of Marketing in EuropeCisco

Because of the pivotal role service providers play in ensuring that businesses and individuals have access to the information, capabilities, and resources they need, Networkers at Cisco Live is placing special emphasis this year on the technical training most relevant to today’s service providers. The wider availability of broadband access is changing the rules for businesses and consumers, while increasing the demands on service providers. In this dynamic market, service providers are searching for new ways to meet their customers’ higher expectations, while deploying more profitable services that can help them stand out from their competition.

With the challenges of continuous network innovation and rapidly evolving user expectations, knowledge is one of the most powerful assets available to today’s service providers. The Service Provider Program offers attendees the technical and business education they need to manage diverse networks and deliver the compelling user experiences that drive revenue – as well as strategic insight into the following trends:

• Quickly evolving technologies and standards

• The growing reliance on rich media applications

• The trend toward data centre virtualization

• The emergence of cloud computing

• Increasing demand for mobile network access

• The green revolution

Technical topics designed specifically for service providers include how to build and manage the application, service, and network layers of your infrastructure and provide the voice, video, and data experiences that today’s end users demand. Sessions cover topics such as mobile and fixed access areas (including Wi-Fi mesh, WiMAX, DOCSIS, metro optical, and pseudowires), distribution and core transport, and routing technologies. You can also explore in detail topics such as application optimization in the trans-port for voice and video.

In addition to these service provider-focused offerings, you’ll have the option to dive deeper into other aspects of Cisco technologies through the wide range of sessions available the week of Cisco Live.
