WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL Monday, January 4th, 2021

SOUTH AMERICA STUDIES

During this month, we will be working with materials related to the continent of South America, which will culminate in our South America Immersion Day on Thursday,

January 21st. We encourage you to engage your children in conversation, reading, and cultural activities related to

South America and its component countries. Looking at maps, eating new foods, listening to music, and discussing plants and animals from this region will create a better understanding of what makes this continent unique. INTRODUCTION TO ELEMENTARY

It is hard to believe that it is already time for the graduating families to consider enrollment in the Elementary program for next year. This is an important

decision, so we urge you to do everything possible to learn about what we have to offer before making your final choice. We invite you to learn more about the Lower Elementary program (1st – 3rd grades) via Zoom on Tuesday, January

12th at 3:30 pm (login information below). If you would like to attend the meeting, please RSVP to pearloffice@oneworldmontessori.org. We strongly encourage all parents of graduating children to attend!! Meeting ID: 988-319-0379 Passcode: 24 MINIMUM DAY

There will be a minimum day on Friday, January 15th. School ends at 12:00 pm. Lunch will not be served.

BIRTHDAY There will be no school on Monday, January 18th, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

SOUTH AMERICA IMMERSION DAY South America Immersion Day will be observed on Thursday, January 21st. This year, we are unable to have parents participate. We

are hopeful that next year parents will be able to help by sharing their culture and heritage with the children.

ZOOM MEETING WITH TEACHERS The classroom staff will be available on Friday,

January 22nd from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm via Zoom if you need to "drop in" and discuss anything

with them. We hope this helps keep the lines of communication open. As each conversation is private, one family at a time will be admitted from the waiting room. PRIMARY 4 STAFFING UPDATE

Catalina is no longer working in Primary 4. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are pleased to welcome back Vittia Zarate to One World Montessori. Vittia was a part of our daycare team last school year and will be returning in January to join the Primary 4 staff as an assistant.

FOOD ALLERGY UPDATE

We have a new student starting in January that is severely allergic to sesame seeds.

Therefore, starting in January, the following foods are not allowed at school:

- peanuts - tree nuts - sesame seeds

Thank you for helping to keep our children safe! NAPPING UPDATE

When we return from winter break, the

children will begin napping in the church’s fellowship hall. The nappers will be escorted back to their classroom before 3:00 pm, so please continue to pick up your children from their classroom at the end of their program. FREE PIZZA

The first person to send an e-mail to the office – office@oneworldmontessori.org – with the correct answer will win one free slice of pizza for their child(ren) for the month of January! COURTYARD Please refrain from using the courtyard area before or after school. This area is the property of the Central Church of Christ and is not included in our lease. Although the church has been gracious enough to allow One World to use the courtyard for limited purposes at our special events, we do not have the authority to allow parents to congregate or allow children to play in this area.

TAX TIME IS COMING

If you will need a recap statement for 2020, log into your Smart Tuition account. The payment details for the 2020-2021 school year will

show the amount paid from 8/1/20 through the current date. Select “2019-2020” from the drop-down menu to see the amount paid from 1/1/20 through 7/31/20.
