Book Club

All members are invited to participate in the Club’s monthly Book Club. It is a wonderful evening meeting fellow members while discussing a broad range of literature. This month, the group will be discussing Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. Called a “magnificently crafted story . . . brimming with wisdom” by Howard Frank Mosher in The Washington Post Book World, Crossing to Safety has, since its publication in 1987, established itself as one of the greatest and most cherished American novels of the twentieth century. Tracing the lives, loves, and aspirations of two couples who move between Vermont and Wisconsin, it is a work of quiet majesty, deep compassion, and powerful insight into the alchemy of friendship and marriage.

Speaker Series with Rory Diamond

We are thrilled to kick off our 2021 River Club Speaker Series by welcoming Rory Diamond, CEO of K9s for Warriors! Under Rory's leadership, K9s for Warriors has grown into the nation's largest service dogs provider for disabled American veterans and the world's largest service dog agency, primarily rescue dogs. Rory was elected in 2019 to the Jacksonville City Council representing the Jacksonville Beaches and founded the nation's first community-based veteran suicide prevention initiative called The Fire Watch. Join us as we learn more about Rory's vast array of accomplishments and the extraordinary impact he has had on our community.
