Happy New Year! Well, as we begin 2020 there are lots of great things happening around the club:
WYCC is not run by one person, it is run by your outstanding Board of Directors. At the November meeting, Charlie Manning was elected President. He is well qualified and will do an outstanding job. Help welcome our new President.
The board and social committee continue to work hard on providing great social events for your whole family. Please review the calendar and watch for announcements of coming events.
We want to spend the rest of this article talking about membership. Currently we have 353 active members. As we have said many times, our goal for the coming year is 375. We have 12 months to achieve that goal. We as members are our best recruitment tool. Let’s get out and recruit and discuss the benefits of being a member of WYCC. It not just a Golf Course and Marina, it’s a place you can call your own where:
• You can meet with friends! • Have a great meal! • Join in on special events! • Play golf with the Seniors, Women, Family and Friends! • Socialize in our great facilities! • Dock your boat in the best facilities in the area! • Participate in Yacht Club activities! • Play Tennis or Pickleball! • Use our Pool in the Summer!
We all need to participate in WYCC’s success. Let’s go out and recruit 10 to 20 new members or more in the year 2020.
We want to end by thanking all of you for your continued support. We are not a club without its members. You are what makes WYCC GREAT. Keep using the club. We have great staff and welcome you and your guests with open arms. We look forward to seeing all of you in 2020!

Thank You and Congrats to all of the participants of the Snowball Express Tournament. Everyone gave the pros a good run for their money, but not to worry, they will be back in the Spring ready to take on another great field! Also, the Pro Shop would love to thank every member and participant for supporting our events this past year, and here's to an even more event packed New Year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE PRO SHOP!!!
December weather certainly curtailed our gathering and play dates. However, we did get a chance to play for Ace of the Month and heartily congratulate Sharon Forrest for coming out on top with a very notable 69 net score. I also must correct an error from last month’s Ace of the Month report and recognize Dorie Richter for winning the November title. My apologies for the error.
On December 18th, LGA members gathered at Sylvia Day’s home to celebrate our Holiday Luncheon. We shared stories, indulged in simply delicious foods, and enjoyed a vigorous exchange of white elephant gifts. This exchange certainly provided lots of laughs and gifts that will perhaps (and unfortunately) last a lifetime. Thank you Sylvia for your hospitality; a grand time was definitely had by all.
Here’s to a wonderful and GOLF-FILLED 2020 to all from yourLADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here’s wishing everyone a Happy New Year, & a fun, exciting, & safe boating experience for 2020. December 7th we started off participating in the Washington Christmas parade followed by the WYC Christmas party later that evening.
The morning was perfect for the parade. The parade was the longest I can remember. Our team consisted of our boat f loat followed by WYCC golf carts. It was a fun day with tons of candy thrown to the spectators. That night in the Upper Deck we enjoyed a great buffet & fellowship. The evening consisted of a moment of silence remembering the events of December 7th 1941 (the attack on Pearl Harbor), followed by the election and installation of our new 2020 Bridge.
It was a pleasure seeing our boats lit up for Christmas in their slips. Thanks to all who participated this year. Our Dock Master will tell us who the winner is for the best decorated boat. If you didn’t get a chance to decorate this year, please consider doing it in 2020.
We are looking forward to an exciting 2020. The Bridge is already working on land and sea events that will include new activities such as the Pamlico Poker run. More details upcoming! Don’t have to go far, we’re planning new and exciting ideas to get boats out of their slips and have fun close to home. For 2020, we are adding an “Advisory Committee” to provide input and assistance to the Bridge. Any member of the WYC is welcome to join this committee. We would also like to invite any WYC member to attend our monthly Bridge meetings, which are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am at the WYCC 19th hole. Next meeting will be on January 18th. The Bridge would very much welcome ideas, suggestions, and feedback from any member. We always need help with coordination of each event and activity.
Don’t forget to winterize your boat. If you have questions about winterizing your boat, feel free to contact our Dockmaster, Ernie Glover, or consult West Marine’s website for information. Ships Store: Still time for giving, we have a newly stocked Ships’ Store. The Store is now located at the Club for your convenience.
