January 2020 ...
Letter from the EditorJanuary – a month when we should all be thinking about being a little bit healthier after the excesses of the festive season. A month when we should be all getting out and about for that much needed fresh air; a challenge when the days are still so dark and gloomy.
Hopefully my centre page feature this month will encourage you to get out and about. Please let me know if you discover anything of interest, or something unusual, in our beautiful Buckinghamshire, so I can share it with everyone. Some people try out Veganuary in January. A month to follow a plant based diet. This means no meat products or dairy. I know a few people who follow this diet and they all have their own reasons for doing so. I also know of some people who have had to give up a plant based diet because of ill health. If you are giving it a go, please make sure you are eating a balanced diet from all the remaining food groups.Rachel’s Creative Cooking feature a vegan curry this month. It’s delicious; I know because we had it for dinner last night. I cooked the rice to accompany it in a traditional Indian way. I added a teaspoon
of cumin seeds to a tablespoon of oil and cooked over a gentle heat until the seeds popped. I then added a cupful of basmati rice and stirred it so every grain of rice was lightly coated in the oil. I then added two cupfuls of hot water, brought it to the boil and then simmered for 12 minutes, keeping the saucepan lid on. No need to stir, no need to do anything else. The rice is always perfectly cooked and every grain stays separate; no more soggy overcooked rice! Give it a go and see what you think.Whatever you get up to in January stay well and stay safe and remember, we are on the right side of Christmas now – Spring will soon be on it’s way; once the snow has come and gone!Helen [email protected] 07947 349134

Winter Birding WalkWednesday 1st January 2020 10.00-13.00 Spade Oak Nature Reserve
Wild Marlow are joining the RSPB Local Group for their traditional New Year's morning bird-watching walk around Little Marlow gravel pits and along the Thames. This is a level walk of around two miles, on footpaths that are often very muddy - Wellingtons strongly recommended.
There should be plenty of wildfowl and gulls. Most likely are wigeon, shoveler, gadwall, teal, lapwing and snipe, with a chance of goldeneye or even goosander on this man-made lake and sand spit. There is woodland with common woodland birds.
In 2019 they recorded 60 species - can we do even better this time?
Meet at 10am in the Spade Oak car park on Coldmoorholme Lane SL8 5PT. No facilities, but there is a pub just up the road.
Bird Box WorkshopSaturday 11th January 2020 10.00-12.00 The Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Little Marlow
If you love birds and want to encourage them to visit your garden, then Wild Marlow's Bird Box Workshop is for you!
On Saturday, 11th January from 10.00-12.00 at The Pavilion in Little Marlow, you can make your own bird box to take home ready for the next nesting season. Your box will provide a safe and cosy home for garden birds to nest and raise their chicks.
Supported by Bisham Nest Box Group, the event costs only £6.00, which includes refreshments and your bird box. Everyone is welcome and booking is recommended.

wildlife and protecting biodiversity in the Marlow area, engaging
the local community through fun events, competitions, volunteering and work parties to raise awareness

MINI RACING LEGEND IS INDUCTED INTO BUCKS SPORTING HALL OF FAMELegendary rally driver Paddy Hopkirk MBE was inducted into the Bucks and Milton Keynes Sporting Hall of Fame at a glittering awards night in November 2019.Paddy, 86, who lives in Penn, is famed for stunning the world of motorsport in 1964 by winning the Monte Carlo Rally in the now classic Mini Cooper S – a victory which helped make the Mini a 1960s’ icon. The crowd of nearly 300 people at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre, who were guests at the 14th annual Bucks & MK Sport Awards, cheered and clapped as he became just the fourth Hall of Fame inductee. He followed Olympic legends Sir Steve Redgrave CBE and Greg Rutherford MBE, and Paralympic hero Sophie Christiansen CBE.The evening is organised to pay tribute to the people and organisations who make grass-roots sport and activity happen in the area, while also giving the special Hall of Fame tribute to the county’s elite-level athletes.Paddy, whose wife Jenny Hopkirk is a former High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, won numerous other races in his heyday and is still hugely involved with motorsports. He is a global brand Ambassador for MINI, as well as Ambassador for the Institute of Advanced Motorists Road Smart - a leading road safety charity. Along with serving until recently as President of the British Racing Drivers' Club, Paddy is a keen supporter of the Wheelpower charity based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium.Paddy told of his delight at being inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside three sporting greats: “I am terribly honoured and I didn’t expect it. To be associated with all these great people is wonderful – it’s terrific.”Sue Imbriano, Chairman of Leap – the County Sport and Activity Partnership which co-ordinated the awards – told the nominees in her opening speech: “This is your evening and we are delighted to be able to recognise your commitment and your dedication to making sport happen on the ground and providing inspiration and opportunities for your communities to participate whatever their level, their ability or disability.”
UNSUNG HERO OF THE YEAR (Sponsored by Stoke Mandeville Stadium)Winner: Mrs Terry BrownFor more than 40 years Terry has been involved with High Wycombe Rugby Club.In the early years, with her late husband George, she first helped develop the youth section and later the Colts XV and also with him, the running of the bar and for a while, presided over the club kitchen regularly feeding over 200 people on a Saturday.More recently, as a club committee member and Fixture Secretary for over 20 years, she has helped keep senior teams playing and when the main season is over, for the last 10 years she has organised the summer touch rugby league.

YOUNG LEADER OF THE YEAR (Sponsored by Buckinghamshire College Group)Winner: Natalie BeckettNatalie has an infectious enthusiasm for Rugby and assists coaching sessions at both Great Marlow School and High Wycombe Rugby Club. She has completed the England Rugby Referee Award and is now a fully-qualified match official. Natalie
is putting her new-found skills into practice and refereed matches between adult teams at the club’s Touch Rugby Tournament.Natalie’s determination and enthusiasm rubs off on her peers and she is well respected in her club and school communities because of these traits.Natalie, 15, who is in Year 11 at Great Marlow School, said: “I didn’t think I was going to get the award. I am really excited.”
IMPACT OF THE YEAR (Sponsored by My Milton Keynes)Winner: BetterA nationwide social enterprise, Better operates facilities within Chiltern and South Bucks.Through its community outreach programme, Better has worked with partners to engage residents who may have difficulty in accessing its facilities. These include delivering disability sessions with Nclude and Macintyre, youth programmes with Aspire’s pupil referral units and gentle exercise with care homes.Better gathers insight from local residents through focus groups, using this to inform delivery. It also employs a robust evaluation framework that ensures it keeps the service in line with local demand and trends.Leon Popplewell, Community Sports Manager, said: “It’s fantastic. I am amazed we have been recognised for the work we do. We do a lot in the community. It’s what the company is about and it’s fantastic to be recognised for that.”
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR (Sponsored by MK Council)Winner: Paul AndrewsAs youth chairman at Aylesbury Rugby Club, Paul ensures 20 teams of young players can get their Rugby fix each week.Paul manages the fixtures, car parking, pitches, changing rooms, the kitchen, officials and kit for the teams. He has also recruited a number of under 15s to complete their Young Match Officials training developing both the players and officials of tomorrow. Most importantly of all, Paul ensures that every child who comes to the club has the best experience they can and leaves with a smile on their face. Paul said of his award: “It’s amazing. I am shocked. The reason I do this is my son (William) plays rugby and I do it because I wanted to give something back to the community.”
*If you know a local community sport hero who deserves thanks and recognition nominate them for next year’s awards. Contact Kirsty Ingham for more information [email protected] or call 01296 585249.

Having children is a big life event without the variety of physical changes that women can experience and that may prove difficult to reverse with diet and exercise. These changes can greatly affect your self-confidence. With a combination of treatments catered specifically to your issues, here at Spire Thames Valley Hospital, we hope to help you fall in love with your body just as much as you have with your baby!A recent patient’s thoughts: “The total experience of undergoing cosmetic surgery has been a complete revelation and has improved my personal confidence well beyond my own expectations. The surgery was carried out in the most professional and caring manner by Mr. Armstrong.Key areas that are commonly (but not exclusively) addressed are sagging breasts, flabby tummies, excess fat on the hips, buttocks, thighs and arms, and stretch marks. “Mummy makeover” surgery typically involves procedures, either performed together in one operation, or over a series of appointments. With a package price there are no unexpected costs and those seeking to recreate their pre-pregnancy bodies can be assured of a complete care pathway. Mummy makeover expert Anthony Armstrong FRCS(Plast) is passionate about the combination of cosmetic treatments that can help reverse unwanted physical changes that have been caused by pregnancy. Anthony commented: “It is very important that from the outset you get an honest, informed and balanced opinion as to whether surgery can achieve your expectations for cosmetic enhancements and rejuvenation.”With 20 years of experience as a consultant plastic surgeon and a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS), Anthony welcomes face to face consultations where there is no pressure to make a decision straight away. The limitations of any procedure will be fully discussed and explained, as will the risks so that you are best placed to make an informed decision.Anthony is commonly asked to perform the following procedures:
Plastic surgery is a huge decision and we work with you to ensure all procedures are carried out in a safe and professional manner. It’s your body, and we will work hard to make sure that it feels just that again.

Migraines and MeI was eleven when I got my first migraine. This is my
story about migraines and me.
Have you ever heard that you’re often ill after you finally relax from a stressful or tiring time in your life?
Unfortunately this happened not to me but my sister last month when we attended the Christmas BBC Good Food Show which we do yearly at the Birmingham NEC. About an hour into the event her eyes began going fuzzy with an aura. It was so frustrating because a blurry eye sight is not ideal anywhere, but especially not when far from home and in a busy environment at an event you’ve been looking forward to all year!
I don’t know about you but I carry tablets everywhere with me in case of a migraine or headache. I basically have a little medical kit in either my pocket, handbag or rucksack wherever I am in the world. Luckily this meant that my sister could take the maximum dose of pain killers quickly and hope that the migraine would be gone very soon.
Much to our despair (and her horror) the pain killers didn’t kick in soon enough and it was a trip to the medical centre and a sleep in a quiet environment for a few hours whilst the rest of us returned to the event; it wasn’t the same without her!
This migraine thankfully disappeared within 12 hours but that doesn’t mean the next will be the same! Please make sure for the New Year, if you suffer, you pack yourself a mini medical kit suited to your needs and take it everywhere in case a situation like this happens to you!
Please get in touch! I’d love to hear from you. [email protected]

Let’s all do our bit …
Addressing the problem of climate change can seem like this. The issues are so many and varied, and the changes needed are so great, in such a short time, it’s easier to pretend there’s no problem. But individuals, businesses and governments making like the ostrich, is exactly what has led to the current crisis.
Climate change affects us all, and there are things we all can do to help. The key to making major changes is setting small, measurable targets. If you make one manageable change in your routine, you are more likely to stick to it. Then you will have a sense of fulfilment and confidence, thus be motivated to take on more. If everyone was “doing their bit” it would amount to huge improvements for the planet.
So what changes could you make? Why not walk or cycle to the local shops instead of driving to the supermarket? You will enjoy fresh air, moderate exercise, time to think rather than curse the traffic, and perhaps a chat with a friendly neighbour or shopkeeper, while saving money. You could choose to eat one less meat meal a week, or to only buy local, organic and unpackaged fruit and veg. Home composting helps sequester (store) carbon, rather than releasing it into the atmosphere, whereas food in landfill generates volumes of greenhouse gases. Stop buying bottled water – tap water is just as good! Save empty plastic bottles to refill at a shop like Dan’s Refill Store in Chalfont St Peter – pardon the plug – or The Refill Project at Amersham and Chesham market.
On the more active side, you could volunteer, perhaps for one afternoon a month, with a wildlife organisation such as BBOWT or the RSPB. The Woodland Trust is encouraging people to plant trees, and supplying saplings and advice to boot. Trees are priceless to the environment, providing a habitat for all manner of wildlife, as well as oxygen to the atmosphere and reduced risk of soil erosion and flooding.
Whatever we choose, it’s important we all do something. You will be helping yourself, humanity and the planet. Together we can turn our New Year’s resolutions into a revolution!

A NEW YEAR’S (GREEN) REVOLUTION
New Year’s resolutions are notoriously hard to stick to, often because we want to make giant changes. We quickly feel overwhelmed, give up and the end result is the same, or worse than before. Feeling defeated, we are less likely to try again.

I haven’t visited this public open space for years so when I found myself having a walk there recently I was thrilled to see this beautiful graffiti. Painted by Dan Wilson and volunteers from the Chiltern Rangers (permission was sought and received) this stunning artwork brightens up what would usually be two unsightly containers in a dark corner. The message they are getting across fits in so well with my “Let’s all do our bit” blog and who knew the River Wye is an internationally rare chalk stream? The painting of the kingfisher is particularly spectacular and it’s well worth the visit to the recreation ground just to see this.
Helen Gerrish, Editor
Well done to the Chiltern Rangers for graffitiing such powerful messages. The closest access point is via Kingsmead Road where there is a large free (2 hours max) car park. Please take note of all the signs around though saying not to leave valuables in your car; it’s such a shame our society has come to
this. Whilst I was there, I spotted a sign for The Chiltern Way. This is a circular walking route
of 134 miles that was established by Chiltern
Society; I thought I’d let you know in case you want to have a longer walk! Further details can be found here www.chilternsociety.org.uk/the-chiltern-way
After the festive period we can all use some extra fresh air and exercise so pop along to Kingsmead Recreation Ground and admire something beautiful.

Joe Brown does what it says on the tin. What you see is what you get…a cheeky smile, a spikey haircut, a bloke who is definitely a survivor. He’s passed through more genres
and vagaries of the music industry than you can shake a stick at. And he’s still here, with the same haircut and a youthful effervescence (at a mere 78) and still selling out
shows across the UK.Joe’s first big hit saved his life – it took him off on a solo tour (otherwise he’d have
been in the car crash that killed Eddie Cochran). The music is drawn from all over, some rock, some instrumental, a touch of gospel, some banjo and fiddle, but it’s one man that pulls it together. The cheeky smile, the
spikey haircut, the entertaining multi-instrumentalist ...it’s the indefatigable force that is the one and only Joe Brown.

Crime in the Caribbean: ‘Cassie P, Caribbean PI’ by Cecil Browne
Caribbean-born and Bucks-based author Cecil Browne has a passion for telling stories of his home nation, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and he’s back with his latest novel, ‘Cassie P, Caribbean PI’.
Certainly in Western publishing, there are few stories that centre around the beautiful world of the Caribbean, but Bucks-based author Cecil Browne has been challenging this literary canon for years with his stories of the idyllic islands in the ocean. However, this time Browne is doing so with a crime-thriller edge in his new book, ‘Cassie P, Caribbean PI.’
With the setting of the island of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Browne captures the essence of the Caribbean as he showcases all kinds of specific details only a true local could know. ‘Cassie P, Caribbean PI’ follows the life and career of the fiery and tenacious Cassie Providence, as she
abandons her career in the police force to become a private detective. With the support of her husband Joel behind her, Cassie learns to navigate the uncertain waters of self-employment and never letting her clients down, all-the-while managing her own impulsiveness and the inherent danger of her new job.
As we follow Cassie’s trials and tribulations, Browne masterfully weaves together six different crime and mystery tales in the process, each as gripping as the last. Whilst all the stories add up into the tapestry of Cassie’s life, they all also function independently, an ingenious way to combine a novel and a set of short stories into one wholesome and flowing narrative. Cassie’s natural charm and humour alongside her own impatience make for a complex protagonist, made all the more interesting as she explores a setting that’s been often ignored in literature.
Whether you want to escape the dreary English weather and soak up some of the Caribbean sun that Browne vividly presents, or even just as your next read, support a local author and grab a copy of ‘Cassie P, Caribbean PI’.

BATTLES OF THE JACOBITE REBELLIONS Killiecrankie TO CullodenThe latest publication by Iver’s Dr Jonathan Oates
Many books have been written about the Jacobite rebellions – the armed attempts made by the Stuarts to regain the British throne between 1689 and 1746 – and in particular about the risings of 1689, 1715, 1719 and 1745. The key battles have been described in graphic detail. Yet no previous book has given a comprehensive military account of the campaigns in their entirety – and that is the purpose of Jonathan Oates’s new history.
The author uses vivid eyewitness testimony and contemporary sources, as well as the latest archaeological evidence, to trace the course of the conflict, and offers an absorbing insight into the makeup of the opposing sides, their leadership, their troops and the strategy and tactics they employed.

THE PRISON DOCTOR BY DR AMANDA BROWN:
A review By Matt Batsman
Medical non-fiction has been a rapidly growing genre, with Adam Kay’s successes being some of the most notable in the past few years. However, the hidden world of medicine in prison was very much unexplored. Now, Buckinghamshire resident Doctor Amanda Brown has opened the lid on this underworld with her eye-opening book, ‘The Prison Doctor’.
Back in 2004, Doctor Amanda Brown was a hardworking GP at a surgery she had set up herself in Buckinghamshire. But, when a new list of stringent rules
and guidelines came into play, she walked out the door and never looked back. Six months later, she was practicing her occupation on a brand-new set of patients, in the form of young offenders at HMP Huntercombe.
‘The Prison Doctor’ is a no holds barred account of the visceral and shocking life of a doctor behind bars, as she navigates the world of three different prisons in her new career path. In what reads almost like a description of a parallel universe, Brown takes the reader through her time in Huntercombe, then into the notorious HMP Wormwood Scrubs, before bringing us to the present day in HMP Bronzefield, Europe’s biggest female prison.
The gritty reality of violence, drugs and suicide is displayed in full colour by Brown, who gives every grim detail of her daily grind. She introduces a variety of fascinating characters, each with their own story to tell from the horrifying to the heart-breaking, and she never pulls any punches; some of her stories are so graphic, it’s almost unfathomable.
However, whilst it all may sound rather doom-and-gloom, ‘The Prison Doctor’ is also a story of hope, inspiration and most importantly compassion. Brown gives life and agency to a population so often dehumanised by ugly media portrayals and unfair criticism, with her natural inclination to care and see the best in people with empathy and understanding; she gives the other side to the story of the voiceless.
With tear-wrenching precision, Brown combines these stories with tales of her equally hardworking colleagues, with inspiring and motivating descriptions of the close-knit nature of the team she finds herself working within.
Is ‘The Prison Doctor’ a disturbing narrative? At times. Are some of the stories sad? Certainly. Yet Brown’s intentions are not to shock or to sadden, but to leave us with a sense of hope and optimism. Is she successful? Undoubtedly.
‘The Prison Doctor’ is Doctor Amanda Brown’s first book. It is published by HQ and is available at www.HarperCollins.co.uk.

A stew is a mixture of food ingredients cooked in a liquid and served in the resultant gravy. It’s often a family meal that can be reheated several times and it seems to get better every time!
Stews are suitable for less tender cuts of meat as the slow cooking in moisture softens the meat making it juicy and tender, melting in the mouth. Although thickening a stew can be achieved through adding flour, a slow cooking simmering reduction works well to intensify flavours.
On the Waitrose.com recipe website there in a category for comfort foods which includes stews, casseroles and hotpots.
• A meat free winter veg stew combines love life soup mix containing a mix of dried beans, peas, lentils and brown rice with a ready prepared pack of vegetables, echalion shallots, vegetable stock and balsamic vinegar.
• For the meat lovers an option is easy Irish stew; stewing lamb cooked with onions, carrots, swede, leeks, pearl barley and potatoes in a lamb stock with a pinch of thyme, mouth-watering!
• For those looking for something different how about chicken, chorizo and butter bean stew. Chicken thighs and diced chorizo cooked with soffritto mix, garlic, smoked paprika, chopped tomatoes and butter beans in a chicken stock, and this 55 minute recipe contains 2 of your 5 a day!
Stews have been made since ancient times with the heat from below method very suitable for cooking over a fire. There is evidence of recipes dating back to the first century BC in the oldest cookbook known, "Apicius de re Coquinaria" with recipes including fish and lamb. Stew could go back even further with evidence of Amazonian tribes using large turtle shells as looking vessels.
The difference with casseroles is the heat in applied around the cooking vessel, like in the oven! Back to the Waitrose.com website for some casserole options:

The Ivy Marlow Garden gave us a sophisticated start to our day
R E V I E W By Helen Gerrish
Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal isn’t it? There is no way we could contemplate a busy working day without eating something; we just couldn’t function properly, and we know that we wouldn’t give our best service. With this in mind, we headed to The Ivy Marlow Garden to sample their breakfast delights. We’ve eaten afternoon tea and dinner here before, but never breakfast. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy when we arrived so we were able to have a good look around. The décor takes you back to a time of opulence and beauty, with stunning prints on the walls, colourful comfy seating, huge plants and very clever lighting. It’s all very exotic and sumptuous and we loved it! Were we really in Marlow High Street? The atrium lets in that all important light (especially at this time of year) whilst the conservatory to the rear really is an inside outside space with pot plants galore; right up our street.
Choosing the vegetarian full English and the fluffy pancakes with yoghurt and berry compote, we were soon tucking into delicious fayre. Our tea was served in timeless silver teapots with tableware to match the décor of a bygone era, where elegance and sophistication was the order of the day. Yes, this really was a breakfast extravaganza, but at an affordable price. The Ivy Marlow Garden describes itself as “Relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the heart of Marlow. Open seven days a week offering all-day dining to local businesses, residents and visitors alike. As with its sister sites, The Ivy Marlow Garden serves an all-encompassing, contemporary British menu for breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, light snacks, cocktails and dinner”. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

The definition of a botanist is ‘an expert in or a student of the scientific study of plants’; you certainly see this at The Botanist
in Marlow. The decor at the back of the restaurant where we were seated, even in the winter, felt like a summer garden.

We immediately delved into the cocktail menu which is filled with a whole range of flavours. Whether you’re a rum drinker, a gin drinker or looking for something alcohol free, they’ve got you covered. We tasted the Tiki Thyme, Raspberry Disaronno Sour, Pink Gin Punch and the Passionfruit Colada and we can highly recommend them all! The famous hanging kebabs, which are definitely a must, offer a vegan tofurkey sausage (which was surprisingly meaty) as well as crispy halloumi with garlic butter and meat options such as five spice duck with hoisin sauce, lamb kofta with harissa jam and salt and pepper pork with sweet chilli, lime and soy. To our amazement, the pies are all available gluten free and we can confirm that the pastry was the best we have

ever tasted. Make sure you’re hungry though because every main meal we had was a generous sized portion and trust us, you won’t be leaving any of it! We are happy to share food at our table and for dessert we taste tested the vegan crumble, lemon tart, sticky toffee pudding (all available gluten free) and chocolate brownie hanging kebab. When we revisit it will be a struggle to choose what to eat again as everything was delicious and well worth squeezing into our full tummies! The Botanist in Marlow offer private cocktail masterclasses, a botanical brunch and musical bingo, as well as live music on certain evenings which creates a buzzing atmosphere.

The second half of 2019 continued with requests for Bags of Help grants, including a forestry school and sports equipment.
Four V. I. P. tours covering CFC We Do Not Waste Food, recycling nasty plastic packaging and foodbank for local schools/guiding units hopefully helped the children understand how we can all make a difference, if we work together.Asked to give two talks with Q & A on the above issues, the first for Aquarius Club (doddle) the second for 526 pupils (they took no prisoners); it was scary facing that number of children.
Fundraising in store included a Father's Day competition comprising of a fun quiz on the origins of Father's Day gifts traditionally given, with money raised for CRUK.
Dance Beats raised £2 million across the country for health charities with colleagues smashing a Guinness World Record 30 hour marathon at Wembley Stadium and dancing in stores; well I did say I had not kept out of mischief, I must have misread the brief as flossing, twerking, limbo and hula was how Loudwater rocked!
The Two Minute Challenge also got lost in translation; no boring exercise bike in store for us. Instead, children's puzzles, fuzzy felt, lego and a tv/music quiz was how we rolled.
What's been happening since June's Race for Life update?Wow - the last 6 months have kept me very busy, but not out of mischief!
Hi, my name is Claire Dicker and I am Community Champion for Tesco Loudwater
in the Community
A BIG THANK YOU to all who support me, I could NOT do this without you.Thank you. Loudwaters' Tesco Claire
We were also guilty of supporting two Alzheimer's fundraisers, three well-being days, three Macmillan coffee mornings, two litter picks, plus several summer fetes/Christmas fayres and all these combined with requests for support added up to 203 'little helps' for the year.
I feel honoured to have been asked to be involved in The Mayor's Appeal supporting various events, including the Christmas Lights switch on with the other volunteers. Here's hoping Maz smashes his target for his year in office.
Now for the RACE FOR LIFE UPDATE! I am thrilled to announce that 'Team Proudwater' raised just shy of £5,000 this year.
Team Proudwater Quizzers also took part in a charity quiz with our friends from Loudwater Forum. Much to our amazement WE WON with the winnings given to kick start fundraising for The Poppy Appeal. This was active in store for 14 days with 36 volunteers from the community coming together to raise, wait for it … £9,481.19.
