Volume 41, Number 1 Newsletter of Beech Haven Baptist Church January 2019
MAGNIFYChrist, BUILDGreat Commissionaries
From the Pastor’s Pen “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good
pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).
The year 2019 can be your best year ever. Several things
make this a real possibility. One, you have the best story
and news to share. Jesus has made a discernable
difference in your life. You can tell how this began the day
you gave your guilt and sin to Him. His gospel is still
mighty to save. The blood has never lost its power. In
2019, you and I can share our story and His gospel.
Two, you have the best promises. All the promises of God
are “Yes” and “Amen” in Jesus Christ (2 Cor 1:19—20).
Some feel excluded from Old Testament promises to the
righteous and reason “I am not righteous. I cannot have
that.” On the contrary, if you are in Christ, you get the
promise. All the promises are “Yes” and “Amen” in Jesus
Christ, not your performance or behavior. God will not
withhold any good thing from those who are in Christ
(Psalm 84:10-11). In 2019, you and I can collect on God’s
promises.
Three, we have the Holy Spirit’s ministry. He teaches
spiritual thoughts with spiritual words (1 Cor 2:13). He
produces (Gal 5:22—23). He convicts the world of its
need for Christ (John 16:11). He gives us victory over
errant desires (Gal 5:17). He improves our prayers (Rom
8:26—27). He creates a clean heart (Psa 51:10—13). He
empowers our witness (Acts 1:8). With the Holy Spirit,
there is no loss, only gain. In 2019, you and I can
experience the power of the Holy Spirit.
Finally, God maintains a blazing desire to accelerate the
pace of Christ’s kingdom and to include us in it. Gathering
more and more under the Lordship of Christ is His good

pleasure. He longs to include us in making this happen locally and around the world. In 2019, you and I can build
Christ’s kingdom.
I’m ready for a great 2019 in the Lord, and I think you are, too.

Worship Ministry Notes
very new year, we often find ourselves pausing to consider the course of our lives. We make resolutions. We realign
our priorities. We determine to do better – to be better.
But there is no greater resolution and no higher priority than what we see in Ephesians 1:11-12.
“In Him we have also obtained an inheritance…
That we who first trusted in Christ should be for the praise of His glory.” (emphasis mine)
Our past successes, our present opportunities, and our future hope should all point to the only One who’s truly worthy of all
glory, honor, and praise. May every part of our 2019 point others towards Jesus Christ!
Should nothing of our efforts stand, No legacy survive, Unless the Lord does raise the house, In vain its builders strive. To you who boast tomorrows gain, Tell me - what is your life? A mist that vanishes at dawn. All glory be to Christ! His will be done, His kingdom come, On earth as is above; Who is Himself our daily bread, Praise Him, the Lord of love. Let living water satisfy The thirsty without price. We’ll take a cup of kindness yet, All glory be to Christ!
E
When on that day the Great I AM, The faithful and the true. The Lamb who was for sinner slain, Is making all things new. Behold! Our God shall live with us And be our steadfast light, And we shall ere His people be; All glory be to Christ! All glory be to Christ our King! All glory be to Christ! His rule and reign we’ll ever sing, All glory be to Christ! Dustin Kensrue 2012

Synopsis of Classes
Is Genesis History? A one evening study on the question, “Did the events of Genesis really happen? Are they real,
historical events? Are they poetry? Metaphor? Fable?” This study will address, explain, and defend the historical reality
of the book of Genesis. (No cost).
Crazy Religion: Denominations, World Religions and Cults. A study of America’s Christian denominations (Methodists,
Presbyterians, Episcopalians, etc), world religions (Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism), and cults (Mormons,
Jehovah’s Witness) and a comparison of those with Scripture. (No cost).
Prayer God Answers: How to Pray Scripture and Its Promises. A study in how to use the Bible to guide believers in
praying prayers God is interested in answering with a “Yes!” (Cost: $10)
Disciplines of a Godly Man. A hard-hitting discussion on major areas of Christian manhood: marriage, fatherhood,
friendship, purity, integrity, leadership, prayer, ministry, and more. (Cost: $10)
Disciplines of a Godly Woman. A study for women in cultivating spiritual disciplines that aims at a consistent
relationship with God in the midst of a busy life. (Cost:$10)

moral temptation. (Cost: $15)
Just Open the Door: A Study of Biblical Hospitality. A personal “yes-you-can” guide to offering the life-changing gift to

you the confidence you need to see your home as the most likely location for changing the world around you, one
open door at a time. (Cost: $13)
Detours. Joseph experienced numerous painful detours—hostility from family, betrayal, false accusation, unjust
imprisonment. Using examples from his life, this study leave participants with answers to the following questions: How
do you find the destiny God has designed for your life? How can you make the most of the painful detours God has
planned for you? Is there a way to shorten a painful detour and speed up your progression in life? What is the purpose
of a painful detour? (Cost: $13)
