Walden Woods North

It is time to say good-bye to the year 2016 and hello 2017. Forgive the cliché, but the year did go by fast. The 2017 North Social Club will have the same people as 2016 with one addition. All were sworn in at the December 13 HOA meeting. Elected officers are President, Judy Chapman; Treasurer, Kent Kester; Secretary, Donna Faulkner; 1st Vice President, Robbie Simmons; and 2nd Vice President, Everett Faulkner. The new member is Cheryl Rehberg.

The Club had a very eventful and fun year in 2016 and we plan to continue giving our friends and neighbors in Walden Woods more of the same and maybe even some new activities this coming year.

The Christmas Party was great and we want to thank the Elks Club members for putting together a fantastic dinner. Once again this year we will be working closely with the Limited Social Club in order to create well organized events for everyone. We want to thank everyone for their support.

We have several events planned for January and February. Please check the event calendar in the Gazette for information and also the announcements will be posted on the bulletin boards.

I have had several people approach me and congratulate me on becoming President of the Club. They have offered their support and help when needed. I appreciate all offers and I am sure that the need will arise sometime in the near future and I will be calling.

Thank you all. The Social Club is looking forward to seeing everyone at all the events.

Walden Woods Limited Homeowners’ Association – From the President

Happy New Year to all of the residents of Walden Woods! We hope that your holiday season was a good one. We are still having meetings with Sun management over their proposed changes to the prospectus. We will notify everyone when that process is complete.

There were some changes needed to the plans for the new building so we're still hoping that this project will be started soon.

In 2017, let's all try to support the social club and all of the planned events in our community. Thank you to all of the volunteers that work so hard to provide these events. And as always...be aware of the speed limit in the community and the leash rules and rules regarding picking up after our dogs. Thank You and have a happy and healthy new year!

Fleischer, President LTD HOA 724-996-8074

Walden Woods North Homeowners’ Association – From the President At this time I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Our HOA elections were held at the December meeting. Jim Crouse was elected to the position of First Vice President and Sharon Arnold was reelected to position of Secretary. Thank you both for volunteering to serve on our HOA board. I would like to thank Ron Hesketh for his many years of service on the HOA board. The Social Club election was also held at the December meeting. I would like to thank all those who have stepped up to serve for another year on the Social Committee: Judy Chapman, Robbie Simmons, Donna Faulkner, Everette Faulkner, and Kent Kester. I would also like to welcome Cheryl Rehberg to our Social Club Committee. I look forward to working with all of you. HOA memberships will need to be renewed at the January meeting. The 2017 dues are $20.00 for the year. We had two early renewal dates in December. Thank you all of you that renewed or signed you on those dates. When renewing your dues in January please remember to pay by check made out to WWN HOA. We will accept cash also. If you are new to Walden Woods and are not a member of the HOA, please consider supporting the HOA. Our next HOA meeting is January 10, 2017 at the North clubhouse. News from your HOA Board Chairman

Happy New Year to all, your HOA Board hopes you got all you needed for Christmas. We are still busy working on many projects, some may be resolved by the time this goes to print. We encourage every homeowner to join and support your HOA Board; they spend many hours in meetings on your behalf. We are working on many issues and we have resolved and helped many residents recently and will continue to do so.

I don't relish saying this but, we are our own worst enemies. We are selfish. We want, and expect from others when we ourselves are not willing to give. Some of us refuse to be thankful for what we have. To get to the point, we ask the community management to do something about the speeding, when we are the ones speeding. Does someone have to get hurt before we slow down?

If you are a smoker, you are old enough to be respectful of others and pick up behind yourself. No one likes walking through your cigarette butts at the mail stations or from their yards.

Simply stated DON'T BE A BUTTHEAD! If you see someone doing these things it's your job to correct them. Say something! If you don't, don't complain.

Now let's move on to another of our most unfavorable things, the sewer plant. I have spent many hours learning firsthand how it works and, more important, why it sometimes doesn't work and finding out what can be done to reduce the ongoing odor issues and avoid the complete shutdown of the system. Here again, we are our own worst enemy. When you think about flushing that one disposable wipe down the toilet, you are likely not thinking of the other 426 houses that may be doing the same thing. Mix that with all the grease from all those homes and you might imagine how big of a clog that makes. The only thing and I mean the only thing going through your sewer lines should be toilet paper. We are not on city sewer or city water, so the problem is ours to either fix or pay for.

There is an ther item of concern - dog owners - not the dogs. We want to have our pets. We even asked for and got one of the nicest dog parks of any community I have visited.

But this message is to those who refuse to pick up after their dog. It's your job to pick up after your pet. It's your job as a pet owner to keep your eyes on what your dog is doing and where they are doing it. Whether it's a common ground area, the dog park, or accidently in someone's yard if you want to continue to be allowed to have pets, pick up after them. Would you rather have a rule banning pets or simply pick up after your dog? This is your choice.

One last thing, be kind to others! It's okay to be passionate about things you believe in but when asking or describing your passion choose your words kindly.

I won't apologize for the tone of this article because we all need to be reminded. Thank you all for enlisting your trust in me and your HOA Board. It was very nice seeing so many friends and neighbors at the Christmas party, thank you to all who made it happen.

B‘s Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Happy New Year. I am looking forward to starting the new year. I am hoping for a great year for all residents at Walden Woods and that we can all start fresh. I have hired a new Office Coordinator. His name is Ken Schmidt. He transferred from a Sun RV Resort. He is familiar with Sun’s policies and the way we work so it should be an easy transition for him. He has met a few of you already, please stop by and say hi. I would like to thank Lisa and Terrie for all their hard work this past year. Lisa has been doing an amazing job in the maintenance position. Lisa and Terrie make a great team. I’m sure you all can agree they did a fantastic job with the Christmas decorations. I think they looked beautiful. In January I would like to start having a “Meet the Manager” meeting. I don’t have a date yet, but will post it when I know. This meeting will be for updates and a few questions. It won’t be a long meeting. If you have something that you want to talk about but not in a group setting, please call and make an appointment. We will also be starting something new in January. Yard of the Month. If you are the winner, we will put a nice Yard of the Month sign in the front of your home and you will received a $25 gift card. A small way to say thanks helping keep Walden Woods looking great. We will alternate between the Limited and the North. Reminders: · The dog park was reopened with the stipulation that if there was standing water we had to lock the gate.

Please understand this is for safety reasons. · No parking on the side of the road. Emergency vehicles need to get through the Community. · Shower before going in the pool and after oils have been applied if you are going back in the pool. · All cigarettes should be put in proper receptacles. · Pick up after your pets. · Remember the “Do not flush” items from the last gazette.

Homeless Vets Update This is an excerpt from a recent article from Mission and citrus. Although it will be past tense in January's Gazette it is still a great need throughout January and December with the colder weather. Any help is much appreciated. Blankets, food, water, personal care items or finances are greatly appreciated to help your Citrus County homeless veterans. Our Crystal River shelters are filling up with families and children. Over 100 more are on a waiting list. Please consider helping us help the homeless. We will be over the 50 mark before the end of December. Running the largest shelters in Citrus County takes funding. All ESG grants were given to other counties. Shelters in Citrus County were not seen as a priority. God bless all those who have helped so far.. Our Veteran's shelter success and needs have been addressed to Governor Rick Scott thanks to John Stewart, and we continue to prove that we are getting the job done. Our goal is to get 100 Veterans into 100 homes this year. Join with the Citrus County Speedway, Fluor, Fred's Barbershop, and many more who have helped us with the Challenge. We would also love to give out a big shout of thank you so much to Jim Krause for his extremely generous donation of food and toilet paper. Charlotte Mixon
