FROM THE SENIOR PASTOR’S DESK
January 2015 - A Blessed New Year
A Blessed New Year to each and every one of you. May you and your
family know the wonder of God’s love, and may His rich grace fill
your year with joy and blessing.
It struck me as I began to write how often, when approaching a new
year, we can be so negative. We complain about how fast the last
year has gone. We can hardly believe another year is here. I mean,
“Can you be- lieve its 2015 all ready? Didn’t we just celebrate the
coming of the millen- nium?” And so we resolve to be better and to
change our ways, lose some weight, exercise more, be more kind,
give more to the Lord’s work. All of these reflect that somehow we
feel that we didn’t do too well last year - negative
thoughts.
So I am resolved to do something different this year. As I look
ahead I am considering all the possibilities that lie before us.
For indeed God has given us a new year of His grace and the
potential is waiting for us to utilize it.
I believe that we are standing on the brink of a fantastic new
year. God is opening doors of ministry to us, doors never before
opened. Just think with me for a moment. This year we are planning
to launch a new ministry for children in grades 4, 5, and 6. Plans
are underway to start a MOPS group for young mothers of pre-school
age children. A new adult bible study begins in January, and we are
planning for future growth of our bible studies. By the time you
have read this our new WEB site will have been launched and we are
looking to continue to grow our ministry to children and young
families.
In addition, our regular ministries will be strengthened through
our tradi- tional worship, our Lenten theme and soup suppers, and
those things that have been such a strong part of our 50 year
history will continue. These new ministers will challenge us and
launch us forward with these new and exciting ministries that will
blossom for years to come.

But that is not all. God is already touching the hearts of those of
you reading these words to grow in all aspects of your Spiritual
life. God is moving the people of Faith to get excited about
increasing their giving to the work of the Lord. People are getting
excited about Bible Study, about Evangelism, bringing their friends
and neighbors to church and the joy of being able to share their
faith with others. God has great plans for our pre- school, so that
enrollment can increase and more children and families can come to
know the Lord.
Doesn’t that sound exciting? What a way to look at the New Year.
God is giving us a year to do great and wonderful things in His
name. Don’t you want to be a part of that? Don’t you think that is
an exciting way to go into the New Year, looking forward to being a
part of and seeing what great things God is going to do with
us?
I pray that each of you had a Blessed Christmas and that as you
enter the New Year you will join together with us in the wonderful
ministry God has laid at Faith’s door. May this be a year filled
with all the possibilities of the people of God excited about what
God is and will be doing in our midst.
Again, a blessed New Year to each of you. Get ready for God’s great
year at Faith.
Excited to be in ministry with you,
Pastor Paul
January Birthdays
February!!!
schoolers, and by preschoolers I mean kiddos from birth
through
kindergarten. MOPS is an awesome opportunity for you to grow
and connect with other women who are walking the exact same
path as you. It is a way for you to grow deeper in your
relation-
ship with each other and with our amazing God. At MOPS you
are
able to connect and learn how to be a better wife, friend,
mommy,
and women of God.
If you do not have a child that fits in that age range, and
you
would still LOVE to get involved-GREAT!! I NEED you too! Men-
tor moms are a MUST have! We need seasoned moms/moms
with older kiddos too. You all will be able to serve as great
men-
tors and friends along this messy road. I am also looking for
some
help with child care. If you would like to get involved in the
lead-
ership aspects of MOPS, I would love to have you join the
team.
MOPS will be meeting twice a month, starting in February. We
will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every Month, from
Febru-
ary-June. We will be meeting from 9:30am-11:45am. The regis-
tration cost for you is 40$. This covers the cost of your
curricu-
lum, books, supplies, etc. The registration cost for your child
is
10$. This registration cost covers any supplies we need for
ac-
tivites. If this cost is an issue, PLEASE talk with me.
Scholar-
ships/Assistance is available. I DO NOT want you to miss out
on
this experience because of finances.
Looking forward to this experience with you. Can not wait to
learn and grow together. See you in February! If you have any
questions or are looking for ways to get involved, please
contact
me, Rose Schutt (
[email protected]).
Charles and Alice Burden 19 Dear Faith,
We want to thank you for all you do, have done and continue to do
for our family. We are very grateful and blessed to have such a
wonderful family as you.

Calling ALL students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade! We have a NEW
ministry coming that is just
for YOU-THIS FEBRUARY!!!
We have this “surge” and uprising of kids that are waiting to get
plugged in and engaged who are in grades
4, 5, and 6. Now is the time! If you are still reading this, then
this new ministry probably applies to you or
someone you know. There is a need in the church to meet the
specific needs of students in this age group.
These kids are no longer kids, but not ready to be teenagers yet.
So what do we do? We start a ministry for
them! A ministry that is relevant and purposeful. A ministry that
they can take ownership of and get ex-
cited about. A ministry that fits their needs.
Stay tuned for details and schedules. If you are passionate about
students in 4th-6th grade, I would love to
have you join the team! Looking forward to all these new
relationships and to see what the “surge” brings
to Faith Lutheran.

Just a reminder that some new and exciting changes are coming to
Children’s Church
THIS January. You can always join us during the 11am worship time
and attend children’s
church. The children are dismissed after the “childrens chat” to
their classrooms, where
they are able to grow in relationship with each other AND with our
awesome God.
Because so many kids are starting to attend children’s church, it
is time and we are ready
to start splitting kids up into different age groups. What does
this mean? Well, if you have a child who will
be attending children’s church and they are in Kindergarten or
younger, they will be in a separate class-
room with NEW curriculum. They will now be in the nursery room. It
is called “Lil K” published by
KIDMO (check it out). This is an interactive, video based
curriculum that has the younger kiddos singing
songs and interacting with different Bible characters. It is FUN
and EXCITING! The little guys will finish
off the morning with a craft that correlates with the lesson and
you will have some family discussion ques-
tions and devotions to do at home that go along with what they
learned. Any child that is in 1st-4th grade
will stay together, in their same classroom. We are also
encouraging any child in 5th grade and higher, to
stay in worship.
I am currently looking for new teachers to come on board and help
out with this great ministry. If you are
interested in serving in either Sunday school or Children’s church,
please let me know. If you are passion-
ate about children, helping them grow in relationship with each
other and with God, then I would love to
have you help out.
Looking forward to seeing you and your children. Thank you for
trusting us with them, thank you for al-
lowing us to be a part of their faith development. If you have any
questions, please contact me, Rose
Schutt (
[email protected]).

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide
your face from
me? But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your
salvation. Psalm 13:1,5
What a wonderful psalm this is for parents and teachers. The first
two verses paint an incredible pic-
ture of fatigue and weariness. David, the psalm writer, is worn
out. It is likely that you have had mo-
ments such as this. The last verse provides us with incredible
direction. David refocuses on all the
Lord has done for him. He remembers to trust in the Lord’s
unfailing love and help, and he rejoices!
As you continue in your role as parents or teachers, remember the
words of this comforting psalm.
Cry out to God and let Him know when you are at the end of your
rope. Then redirect your thoughts.
Remember all that God has done, is doing, and will do for you.
Rejoice in God’s everlasting love and
salvation through Jesus. Pass it on!
Happy New Year! I pray that this year you lean on the lord for all
your needs. I pray that your new
year is full of Faith, Hope and Love….
We begin this year with Hope! Most of us are hoping for a better
year than the one now past. The
hopes and dreams are supported by a loving God who promises to hear
our prayers.
We are encouraged by all the children in attendance at our
preschool this year!
Please continue to pray for our preschool and our staff.
The preschool will be closed Thursday, January 1st in observance of
New Years Day.

Mercy Forever is our theme this year. For even the Son of Man came

serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

SANTA VISITS OUR PRESCHOOL Santa Claus made his annual visit to our
preschool on Friday morning December 12th. Our annual breakfast of
orange sections, sausage, and pancakes was well attended by the
children and many of their parents and grandparents. Thanks to the
efforts of our Women’s Ministry ladies, Haas hall was a very
festive place. The tables were adorned with greens and decorated
pine cones. Many of them had been worked on by the chil- dren. As
always, the return of the dancing penguins was a huge hit. After
breakfast everyone moved into the sanctuary where shortly
thereafter Santa ar- rived. He once again had his sack containing a
small gift for each child. Most everyone couldn’t wait to meet
Santa, receive their gift, and have their picture taken. A few of
the younger ones needed a little encouragement and a couple of them
wanted nothing to do with the guy in the big red suit. The
preschool board wishes to sincerely thank our Women’s Ministry
ladies for once again making our annual Santa Breakfast such a huge
success. It is their generous sup- port that allows our preschool
to be the special place it is. Tom Loppnow

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Blessings to you and your
family as you ring in 2015! We pray for you often and are so
thankful that we are a part of your lives. This Parents’ Night Out
we will be celebrating the New Year! Lots of fun things are planned
for this night! Crafts, games, dinner, AND we will be decorating
our own cupcakes as we celebrate 2015.
Parents Night Out is such an awesome ministry here at Faith. The
second Friday of every month, our Jr.High
and High school students (along with some trusted adults) come
together to serve and spend intentional time
with your kids. It is a great time for us all to grow in
relationship with our AMAZING God and each other. It is
also a time that YOU get to spend doing something for
yourself…shopping, a date with your significant other,
a movie, a NAP! Enjoy some time kid free, knowing that we are
taking great care of your kiddos.
Parents Night Out for this month is planned for January 9th,
6pm-9pm. This is a FREE monthly event. Any
child, preschool age-5th grade is welcome to attend and
participate. Any student, Jr-high and older, is wel-
come to come and help out. The more the merrier! Friends and family
are ALWAYS welcome as well.

UN
PRESCHOOL CHILDREN CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE
Sunday December 14th saw the chancel filled with Angels, wise men,
stars and a whole lot of car- olers as the preschool children
presented “T’was the Night Before” The Story of Christmas at the
11:00Am service. They always bring a great amount of enthusiasm to
this event. It’s amazing how these young children remember all the
words to the songs they bring to the program. This year we even had
a soloist singing ‘Away in the Manger’. Miss Karen acted as
narrator while Mickey and his ukulele provided the music. Everyone
thought this year’s singing was the best perform- ance ever. It was
obvious all the participants put a large amount of effort and
practice into the preparation. Our staff always does a great job
with the children. Having our preschool students participate in our
worship service is always a highlight of the Christmas season. We
owe then a huge ‘Thank You’.
