JANUARY 2013 Mark & Marti Mylin
Short HMA* coming upWe are flying to the States in February and will stay almost a month. We are
participating in missions conferences for two of our supporting churches – Westminster
Presbyterian in Lancaster, PA and New Covenant Presbyterian in Abingdon, MD. We’ll
also be visiting other churches (yet to be confirmed) and spending time with our
families, doctors and dentists!
We are so thankful for the financial support which enables us to make these
shorter trips between our longer *Home Ministry Assignments. It is important for us
to see many of you in person from time to time and to speak with you personally about
the work God is doing in the church in Southwest France.
Circuit-riding continuesMark continues his rounds to pastor-less churches within an hour’s drive of Montauban. The needs are far beyond
what he can provide, but he does what he can. Mark also serves on the regional committee that “oversees” these
churches. However he is not currently in a position where he can do more to help. He’d like to start meeting with some
of the church councils, helping them to make wise decisions. Church councils could use leadership in caring for their
congregations and assuring biblical teaching for those under their care. This involvement would mean Mark would cut
back on some of his commitments to the Montauban church.
Please pray for wisdom for Mark (and the Montauban church) as we help other churches in the region. Please
ask God to provide godly pastors for the Toulouse church and several other small churches in the region.
Annual Theology and Bible ConferenceThis Saturday (January 19), our church is hosting its 6th annual
conference. Mark and I are on the organizing committee. We always invite
two speakers to teach on different aspects of a topic. This year’s titles are:
Will we all go to Paradise? (inspired by the title of a popular French song
which doesn’t ask the question but rather makes the assertion…) and Only
one Savior for a Pluralistic World. Registrations are almost double this year.
We are so glad to see that more people are going to benefit from the
teaching that Paul Wells, retired Systematic Theology Professor from the
Jean Calvin Seminary in Aix, and pastor Luc Warnon will be providing. We
don’t know why there is more interest this year. Is it the topic? The
speakers? A growing reputation? Or maybe it is the additional publicity from using the internet and email for the first
time? In any case,
Please pray that God would use this Conference to strengthen and encourage his Church here in Southwest
France.
We thank God for your support, prayers and friendship in Christ Jesus,
Marti Mylin
