Breakfast breakdown?

They love it, but eating high-sugar cereal for breakfast means your kids will likely have an energy crash before lunch.

Let them have cereal, but look for those with whole grains and no more than 8 grams of sugar per serving (about 2 teaspoons). Add fruit for fun and fiber.

The family tableIn today’s fast-paced world,

you may be hard-pressed to find the old TV version of the family at the dinner.

There’s still something to be said about the benefit of dining together around the family table.

Studies show the more of-ten families eat together, the less likely kids are to smoke, drink, do drugs, get depressed, and develop eat-

ing disorders… and the more likely they are to do well in school.

Family dinner conversa-tion clues parents in on what others are doing. It’s easier to spot and address potential problems. While you prob-ably can’t eat together every day of the week, aim for three nights, at least. Any meal will do, whether a three-course feast or pizza!

Entertaining ideas to make your home feel warm & welcoming –putting your guests at ease as they raise a glass to your hosting skills:

• Create a home bar on any surface of your home. Arrange beautiful wine bottles on a vintage silver or brass tray, add wine glasses and two taper candle holders. With a bit of mood lighting, glassware and beverages, a bar is just that simple and guests know they can pour their own wine. • Put every surface to use when entertaining large groups, such as stacking coasters on the mantle to expand your typical entertaining space. Add a pop of color, such as the bright yellow sun on a bottle of Mirassou wine, so guests know they can use the mantle as a gathering place. • The next time you have guests over for wine and cheese, create a buffet table that works your guests along the line visually. Start at the highest point with flatware and rolled linen napkins in tall vessels, then use cake tiers for flatbreads and crackers, followed by cutting boards for cheeses and accompaniments at the lowest point in the middle. Move the eye line back up again at the finish with vases of nuts and bottles of wine.

When it comes to losing weight and getting into shape, good intentions are never quite enough. And there’s not a quick-fix solution, either. It takes a well-balancedapproach and a commitment to making healthy, long-term changes.People who succeed in losing weight and keeping it off have several things in common in three important areas: • Nutrition – They eat a low-fat, low-sugar diet with lots of vegetables and fruit, and they do not count calories. • Exercise – They are physically active and commit tomaking exercise the first thing they do every day.• Education – They self-monitor with weigh-ins.Understanding what is going on inside you backed withinnovative and ground breaking educational course gives you the advantage you need tosucceed.

Quick Waysto Perk UpYour Day

Let’s face it, between work deadlines, shuttling the kids back and forth to school andactivities, and household chores, sometimes those to-do lists can be overwhelming. Here are a few quick tips to keep you moving throughout the day.

Take time for a snack. A good assortment of snacks can help keep you going between meals. Keep a stash of easy, on-the-go items on hand so you don’t need to hit the vending machine or fast food drive through. Some ideas include whole fruits like bananas, apples, oranges or blueberries; yogurt; whole grain crackers and your favorite peanut butter;veggie sticks and hummus.

Enjoy a cup of coffee. A short coffee break is a great way to help break up the day. Quick and convenient coffees, such as Folgers® Instant Coffee Crystals, in a newly redesignedergonomic jar with an easy to open flip-top lid, make it even easier for coffee lovers to enjoy the rich, flavorful taste and aroma of Folgers Coffee no matter what the occasion. If you have a little more time during your coffee break, you can also enjoy an Iced Mocha Latte or Triple Berry Café Mocha – these recipes let you make a cool treat in just minutes.

Take a breather. Whether you work at an office or are busy at home, plan a 5- or 10-minute break a few times a day. Put down what you’re doing and stretch, or take a stroll around the house or office. You’ll be able to clear your head and reprioritize – which will make it easier for you to conquer the next thing on your list.

To learn more about creating instant coffee to your liking, visit www.Folgers.com.
