Spirit Week at EFCA!!
MONDAY
The week of January 10-January 14 was a special week at EFCA. It was Spirit Week! Each
day the students had to dress up in a different style. Prizes were given out for the best in
each category and were handed out during a pep rally on Friday. Spirit Week was a great
way to show class spirit as well as school spirit and all the students were given a free ticket
to the BB games that evening. Nearly everyone participated and ALL had a great time at
the rally. Be sure to check out the Pep Rally pics and the BB score on the Sports Page!!

TUESDAY
WEDNESDAY Many students had the
chance to dress up as their
favorite character for Char-
acter Day. Students dressed
up in a range of costumes
from a Dalmatian to
“Wolverine” and other X-men
characters. Senior Alicia M.
won the prize for the high
school for her “Baby Mama”
costume.
Many people had a chance to
show off their inner princess or
prince on Monday January 10 for
Royalty Day. Several people took
advantage of Monday and dressed
up as royalty, including many of
the elementary school girls who
were absolutely adorable in their
favorite Disney princess outfits.
Duo, duet, pair, double, and duplicates are
all words that could fit for Twin Day. Peo-
ple dressed alike and became “twins.” From
superheroes, to pajamas, to jeans and tee
shirts, every kind of twins you could think
of walked the halls of Erie First on Tues.!
Friday was Color Day.
Every class wore their as-
signed colors. & the ele-
mentary classes chose
their own colors. The high
school winner was Landry
and the class winner was
the 12th grade.
6th Grade Class
Dude! Decade Day was so Gravy, so many “cool cats” dressed up in groovy outfits from different decades. The Big Cheese, Bob Suh won a spiffy prize for his 70s out-fit and we all had a bash!

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Neh. 8:10
Dear Holly,
I have a huge project in History due at
the end of the week and I am swamped
with upcoming tests & projects from
other classes, and homework. How am I
supposed to get an entire science fair
sized board done in four days and get an
“A” in the process? Please help me. How
am I supposed to get my project done in
time?
From,
Stressed & Swamped
Dear Stressed & Swamped
I know how you feel. I hate big projects
too and feel stressed out when I get
them. What you need to do is set a time
to work on the project. Don’t put it off till
the last minute or something bad will
happen and you won’t be able to finish it.
Trust me I know. I’m the queen of pro-
crastination! Putting things off is not a
good thing. If you balance out your work
it won’t be as bad and the project won’t
seem as big. Take a deep breath and
you’ll get through this.
Sincerely,
Holly

send a letter to Dear Holly, I would be
happy to answer your questions. Please

Dear Holly,
For some reason, one of my best
friends has been annoying me without
even knowing it. She just says some-
thing and then sometimes, I get ticked
off or I tense up. She doesn’t realize
she’s annoying me and most of the
time she says something completely
normal, yet it annoys me. When she ac-
tually does something considered an-
noying to other people, its worse. I’m
so confused. Please help me.
Sincerely,
Annoyed Friend
Dear Annoyed Friend,
I know you probably feel like a bad
friend right now but you’re not alone. I
myself have gotten annoyed by friends
many times before. Think about why
you’re friends with them and try to
find good things about them and it
won’t be near as difficult to put up with
them. Eventually you will get over what
your friend does to annoy you. Some-
times this happens to people when you
spend a lot of time with them. Little
things tend to annoy you because you
know them pretty well and you know
their flaws and the little things that no
one else would notice. Your friend will
really annoy you when they do some-
thing that other people notice because
it embarrasses you, but think about
how your friend feels.
Sincerely,
Holly
• One of Erie First Christian Academy’s
favorite elective classes is Art. Our beloved
art teacher, Mr. Wujcik, teaches the
students here the fundamentals of art and
how to use them properly. Recently, the
student’s artwork has been put up on the
walls in the high school area of the hallway.
One of the most impressive pieces of art is
from Shawn An.
•Art is a great way to express your feelings
and your thoughts in a healthy non–violent
way. Many people make careers from being
artists and sculptors.
•Jessica Lee also has Very Impressive work
on the walls! Here is a picture of her next to
her work. :)
•You can join 3-D Art next semester or one
of the other great art classes taught by
Mr. Wujcik!!

The third installment of The
Chronicles of Narnia hit theaters
December 10, 2010. In the Voyage
of the Dawn Treader, Lucy and
Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia
with their cousin, Eustace. Since
Lucy and Edmund are used to be-
ing whisked off to Narnia, when
one of their aunt and uncle‟s paint-
ings start flooding the room, they
know better than to freak out. Not
so with Eustace! To him, Narnia is
an imaginary world that he uses to
tease his cousins with, so when the
spare room starts flooding, he pan-
ics. In Narnia, they meet up with
Prince Caspian for a trip across the
sea aboard the royal ship, The
Dawn Treader. Along the way they
encounter dragons, dwarfs, mer-
folk, and a band of lost warriors
before reaching the edge of the world.
The protagonists must face “the dark-
ness within themselves.” While Ed-
mund is free from Peter‟s shadow, he
now finds himself having to submit to
Caspian‟s authority. Eustace runs
from being a coward to being greedy.
Lucy compares herself to her beautiful
older sister, Susan, and must face jeal-
ousy. The Dawn Treader causes the
viewer to be engrossed in the magical
land of Narnia and the character‟s
hardships and victories.
This reviewer found the movie to be a
great film for people of all ages. It was
worth the money and it fully captures
the magic of Narnia. The movie will be
coming out in the $1 theater soon.

This week I went around and
asked the students at our school
whether or not they liked snow. As
you can see on the chart, seven out
of ten in the elementary and high
school said „yes ‟ and six out of ten
said „yes ‟ in the middle school. The
bottom graph shows what the stu-
dents like to do when we have a
snow day. Six of the elementary stu-
dents play in the snow, one sleeps,
two just hang out inside and one
does something else. Four of the
middle school students play in the
snow, two sleep, four hangout in-
side, and one spends their day doing
something else. Two of the high
school students go out and play in
the snow, three sleep, four hang out
inside, and one does something else.
What‟s coming up:
Favorite Hot Beverage?
What would you like to see more of
in our school?
Would you rather have a 2-hour
delay or a snow day?
Would you rather get flowers or
chocolates for Valentines Day?

Uniforms may not seem like a big issue to many
people. Most people, those who attend public
schools and even some in certain private schools, don‟t have to
wear uniforms. In our school we do wear uniforms. Our code is
blue/black/khaki pants and uniform shirts in blue and white
purchased through the school. Throughout this year, I have
heard many people complain about the uniforms. “It‟s a nui-
sance,” some say. Others strongly believe that it is prohibiting
their “creative” side to come out. So I decided to poll people
about what they thought when they weren't pressured by their
peers to say something specific. In addition to that, I wanted to
find out what the older and wiser generations thought as well.
The things I found out were much as I expected. The younger
people felt that uniforms weren‟t a good idea for reasons such as,
“they‟re too restricting” or “they‟re just not fun.” The results from
the older generations found that most of them do believe in uni-
forms. They believe they help bring equality and structure to a
student‟s life and that students should keep using them. I think
all of this has to do with the different generation‟s backgrounds.
In previous years, private Catholic schools set the stage for
“preppy” style. It wasn‟t all that long ago that girls wore
dresses all the time.
Now, though, we like our jeans and sweatpants. The different
backgrounds can change a person‟s ideas a lot.
Now that you have been presented with the facts, I will give
you my opinion. I believe that uniforms are both good and bad.
I feel that they do bring equality and structure to a student‟s
life. That students who feel their creativity is being limited,
well that might be a good thing. I also feel as though that for
those who wouldn‟t go “crazy” with their outfits are being re-
stricted too much. But how, though, can you make the more
“creative” people wear uniforms but let the more “laid back”
people wear whatever they want? I think overall I have come
to a decision that structure isn‟t bad, but a little less would be
nice. For example, maybe jeans, nice ones without holes, could
be accepted. Also, shirts could be worn as long as they are
somewhat dressy and appropriate. For now, though, we can
look forward to our dress down days.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS: GOOD OR BAD?
BY Julia Williams—Guest Writer
As students, what is our attitude
supposed to be like toward God,
our studies, and the other students
around us? God’s attitude toward
us is love! God wants us to love
Him back! (1 John 4:19-We love
him, because he first loved us.) So,
our attitude toward God should be
love. God said in His Word to love
Him with all of our heart, soul, and
mind. We love the Lord by our ac-
tions by wanting to please him in
obeying His commandments,
fearing to do wrong, desiring or
longing to be more like Him and
to know Him more. God wants us
to use all of what is in us to wor-
ship and glorify Him. It’s basically
longing to grow in your relationship
with God and pleasing Him on the
way. Just like growing in a relation-
ship with a good friend by commu-
WISDOM FROM GRACE: ATTITUDES Devotions by Grace Ferrara
5:17-18 in the NKJV says, ―Pray with-
out ceasing, and in everything give
thanks; for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus for you.‖
I realize it’s sort of hard to pray all day
while trying to concentrate on your
studies while in school, but that verse
doesn’t mean exactly that. The verse
means to have a focus on the Lord or
an attitude of prayer in your heart,
always being aware that if something
comes up in need of prayer that you
are on guard and ready to pray. The
next part of the verse says, in every-
thing give thanks! What God has
blessed you with, give Him thanks.
Even in the hard things we go
through, it is helpful to have a thank-
ful heart toward the Lord for it pleases
Him. What is our attitude supposed to
be toward the schoolwork we do or
any work? Our attitude toward our
name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God the Father,
Lord.‖ (NIV) Colossians 3:23
quotes, ―Whatever you do, work
at it with all your heart, as working
for the Lord, not for human masters.‖
How is our attitude supposed to be
toward the people we work with and
see everyday? Our attitude, as stu-
dents toward others should be love.
Romans 13:9- Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. If someone
wrongs against you, love them any-
way. Even if people are putting others
down in the class, be the bright one
and encourage& lift others up.

Mrs. Gernovich’s US History classes did a project on George Washington for the week of January 17-21. The students had a choice of pro-
jects: Project 1 was a political cartoon project, where the students found a political cartoon & made a caption and then had to create a
political cartoon of their own.
Project 2 was a biography on a general in the revolutionary war. They had to discuss the concept of leadership and the charac-
teristics of what makes a great leader. In Project 3, the students created a museum exhibit profiling the life of George Washington .

SMUGGLING: A lot of things are smuggled from Mexico into Amer-
ica. Most of themare drugs and guns. The problem is that people
are able to buy illegal weapons and kids and adults can buy drugs.
This is making drug lords rich in Mexico and taking away from our
country’s morals. This needs to stop. They need to crack down on
borders and they to do it now.—Jordan W.
This political cartoon shows how Obama and his health care reform are not
allowing his patient (Uncle Sam) to get a second opinion even though there
are risks involved and the low success rate. This is funny because although
Obamacare (The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) has been made
for those who could not afford insurance before, it does not allow it’s pa-
tients to get a second opinion. –Anthony E.
This cartoon represents Obama and Joe Biden in a speed racer
and they are Jedi from the movie Star Wars and this picture is
depicting Obama being stopped by two Clone Troopers and he is
using mind tricks on them. Then, the trooper agrees with him as
he is tricking the country and people into thinking something. -
