1 Samuel 3:3-10, 19 1 | Corinthians 6:13-15, 17-20 | John 1:35-42
Gospel John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, “What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” - which translated means Teacher -, “where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where Jesus was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah” - which is translated Christ -. Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas” - which is translated Peter.
1. Have you ever been moved by someone’s words to the point that you simply followed them? Did you fully believe in the message that was shared? Where did this journey lead you? Now let’s contrast this scenario and ask the reverse question. Have you been the means of inviting someone to “Behold, the
Lamb of God” – or “Behold” God’s love in their life? Where did their journey lead them?
2. In this gospel, Jesus is called the Lamb of God, Teacher, and Messiah. What do these titles tell you about Jesus’ identity? Do these titles make Him special? What was His reaction to the titles?
3. Do you think God has a plan for your life, and that, just like the disciples in the gospel, He wants you to follow Him? To keep you following His plan, how does God guide you? Do you recognize signs and/or have a feeling in your heart that confirms His guidance? Where is He taking you?
4. Have you ever spent a day with Jesus? If so, when was the last time you opened your heart to Him in this way? What was the outcome when you took time to “Behold God’s love in your life?”
5. Do you think the disciples only wanted to see where Jesus was staying or do you think that there was something more; something else they wanted from Him? What do you seek? What do you want to feel, and what do you want in your life?

Go to your inner room and spend time with Jesus Christ. See where He takes you.
The Order of St. Paul the Hermit (Pauline Fathers) was founded in 1250 in Hungary. The monastic
order spread throughout the countries of Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Austria, and Bavaria. After a time, the government ordered the closing of many monasteries. However, they persevered in Poland, where they furthered devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the main monastery in Czestochowa, where they still continue to reside. In the 1950’s, the Pauline Order in Poland wished to spread its missionary work to other peoples in the world. It was decided to set out to the Western Hemisphere, the land of George Washington, namely America, and eventually to Florida!
The feast of St. Paul is solemnly observed by the Order on January 15. In a spirit of appreciation, the Pauline Fathers each year offer a Novena of Prayers in honor of St. Paul the Hermit for all their benefactors, friends, and supporters. We joined them this year by reciting the St. Paul’s litany this past week. So when you see one of our Pauline’s this weekend, be sure to ask him if he was able to celebrate a most Blessed Feast Day and thank him for being here for us at St. Mark the Evangelist.

Friday, January 22
is the Church’s day of prayer for
the Unborn Are you able to spend
a little time praying for the legal protection
of unborn children on this day? Here are a
couple of prayers that might
help you begin.
For all unborn children:
that our love for them
may keep them safe until the joyous day
of their birth; We pray to the Lord.
That the Lord, who rescues
the life of the poor from the power of the wicked,
might send an angel to guard and protect all unborn children;
We pray to the Lord.

W e are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith.
There is much work to be done in this world. Good work. Necessary work. And that’s what the Knights do. Every day. Assisting the sick and disabled. Protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Whether they are next door or halfway around the world. This is the journey we are on. Our path. We do it to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and Catholics. We invest our time, our effort and our resources into our values: Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patriotism. We come from many places. And backgrounds. And stages in our lives. But we are all of one faith. A fraternity of men striving to better ourselves and our world. It’s one thing to say who you are. It’s another to live it. To put your values into action. That’s what we do at the Knights of Columbus.
That’s who we are.
