Morning Prayer or Lauds is one of the official prayers of the church from The Liturgy of the Hours which is a daylong cycle.
Holy Child has a small, dedicated group who assemble daily at 8:30 a.m. to pray this “hour” together. It lasts ap-proximately 20 minutes and has the added benefit of recol-lecting the mind before mass at 9.
Daily mass goers are encouraged to experience this prayer liturgy before the Eucharistic liturgy. Others who wish only to engage in this session of prayer are welcomed to do so.

Join us for the 1:00 p.m. Mass in the Church followed by a presentation and refreshments in the school. Seamless Garment will focus on the belief that everyone is made in the image and likeness of God. Come and see how our community is working to foster this belief. We will have speakers from various groups that work with children and adults with disabilities and special needs including the Great Kills Little League Challenger Divi-sion, the Seton Foundation and the Northwell Health Special Needs Task Force. January 21 & 22 The Spiritual Adoption Program is a program that has been used
nationwide and here in Holy Child Church for the past several years to teach about the sanctity of life and to help individuals
gain a greater appreciation for the culture of life.
This program only takes one minute a day to pray.
Each participant or family “spiritually adopts" one unknown, unborn baby who is in danger of abortion for nine months. The individual or family says a prayer every day asking God to allow
this child to be able to experience the fullness of life, as God intended.
For each of the nine months, an email update is sent out corresponding to the month of the unborn child’s development. The update includes information on the child’s development at
that particular month.
At the end of the 9 months, we will celebrate the hopeful births of these children with a Parish Baby Shower where donations
will be collected for a local pregnancy center.
