Weighted Grades
I do weight my grades for academic classes as follows:
Tests/Projects = 40%
Quizzes/Homework/Classwork = 35%
Notes/Participation/ = 25%
This does make it so that you can’t add up their total number of points and divide it by the total points possible and calculate a correct grade. Please email me if you have any questions

7th Grade Writing- Students will read chapters 3-7 in Anne Frank: A Photographic Story of a Life,
which will be paired with Anne's diary entries. Students will complete summaries for the first three sec-
tions in their summary packet. This will be checked for participation in class. Students will also answer
discussion questions for each section we read. Responses will be written in class and will be collected
at the end of the unit. This week, students will learn about different types of pronouns and practice
pronoun / antecedent agreement.
6th Grade Writing- This week will be read chapters 6-13 in I am Malala. Students will complete sum-
maries in their summary packet. This will be checked for participation in class and students will have
time to complete it in class. Students will also answer discussion questions for each section we read.
Responses will be written in class and will be collected at the end of the unit. What students do not
finish in class is homework. For our grammar lesson, students will learn about pronouns / antecedents
and will practice identifying them in sentences.
8th Writing: I am so pleased with the revisions students are making on their Book Thief paragraphs!
This week, they will be working on revising and editing these paragraphs during Cougar Time. The fi-
nal drafts will be submitted on their Cougar Time Google Classroom and will be due on Friday, January
15th.
This week, we will focus on two skills that the classes struggle with: commas and short response ques-
tions. Students will likely have homework 2 days this week - one for each skill.
6th Grade Math- We will finish Module 8 this week. Our investigation of percents will take us
to the Unit 3 Test. This test will cover Modules 6, 7 and 8. Start studying on Monday for 15-20
minutes a night to give yourself the best set up for success on the test on Friday.
8th Grade Math- We continue to look at Systems of Linear Equations this week. We learned
how to solve by graphing, but now we will get into solving with Algebra. Solving systems by
substitution and elimination are going to be explored this week.
Algebra- We continue with Chapter 7. We will have a 7.1-7.5 quiz on Wednesday. After that,
we will learn about polynomials in lessons 7.6 and 7.7.
