Hurricanes...­ Hurricanes begin as tropical storms over the warm moist waters of the Atlantic ocean of 80 degrees F or higher. 

­ As the moisture from the ocean evaporates, it rises until enormous amounts of heated moist air are twisted high in the atmosphere,

­ Winds forms a spinning circular pattern around the center eye of the storm

­ The lower the        pressure in the center        of the eye the faster          the winds will spin                        = bigger hurricane

Tornadoes...­ The wind coming into a storm starts to swirl and forms a funnel. 

­ The air in the funnel spins faster and faster and creates a very low pressure area which sucks more air (and possibly objects) into it. 

­ The severe thunderstorms which produce tornadoes form where cold dry polar air meets warm moist tropical air called Tornado Ally.

Thunderstorms...­ Low Pressure System

­ Includes thunder, lightening, heavy rains, and strong winds

­ Form within a large cumulonimbus  cloud along a cold front or within an air mass.
