LEADERSHIPPRINCETON AIR CADETSRoyal Canadian Air Cadets participate in a variety of fun and challenging activities. There is something for everyone – no matter what their personal interests may be. The cadet program focuses on social development, decision-making and leadership. As cadets acquire skills and knowledge, they pass it along to younger cadets. Every cadet will have the chance to participate in flight activities, and some top senior cadets may even earn a scholarship to obtain their private pilot’s licence. YOUTH CHALLENGE

During the BC Family Day Winter Festival at China Ridge Trails on February 11, 2013 youth will be challenged to learn to cross country ski and snow shoe. Active youth members of the China Ridge Trails Society will lead cross country and snow shoe tours on the mountain with adult support. There will be a sleigh hill and luge ran as well where youth will be timed climbing the hill and sliding down again. Healthy lunch preparation will be made with our local school cafeteria program where youth will plan a menu, shop, prepare and serve a free warm lunch on the mountain during this event for youth and families.

4 Ways to RegisteR • BY MAIL Fill out the Registration Form found in this guide and mail it in with your cheque. • IN PERSON At Town Hall (169 Bridge Street) during regular office hours. Cash, cheque or debit are accepted. • E-MAIL Fill out the registration form on line at www.princeton.ca/residents/recreational-services and e-mail to [email protected]

• COMMUNITY PROGRAM Call the community organization listed with the program description.

• • Registration requires a minimum of one week prior

to program start date.• Class sizes are limited and are filled on a first

come, first served basis.• All classes are subject to cancellation due to

insufficient registration, weather or non-availability of facilities. In these cases, a full refund or prorated refund will be issued.

• Nothing kills a good program faster than last min-ute registration. If minimum registration is not met ONE WEEK PRIOR to the start date listed with the program we will have to cancel.

• Refunds requested by participants will be given for medical reasons only and will be prorated if program has started.

• Programs are not offered on statutory holidays. • SMILE for Recreation and Culture photography

staff. These photos will be utilized for advertis-ing programs in upcoming Leisure Guides, local newspaper and website. If you object to having your photo (or your children) please advise staff.

• CHILDREN’S ART & FITNESS TAX CREDIT The Child Fitness Tax Credit is a measure to help parents offset some of the costs of healthy, active living programs for parents of children under the age of 16.

• Up to $500 can be claimed when children are registered in a supervised program that is:

• Ongoing for a minimum of 8 weeks at one or more sessions per week;

• Children’s camps at 5 consecutive days;• Must include a significant amount of physical

activity.

EMERGENCY SERVICES VOLUNTEERSVolunteers are always welcome to join these fantastic community members that ensure Princeton and surrounding areas are safe. Training, gear and teambuilding are provided by individual organizations.

Volunteering for most groups begins at age 16. Please contact any or all the groups if you are interested in learning more.

PRINCETON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE If you enjoy a challenge and want to join a great group of men and women stop in at the Princeton Fire Department to pick up an application. Community support of a Volunteer Fire Department is essential to the level of service it can provide. The more members the departmet has the greatest the level of service. Applications are available at the Fire Hall on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm or at Town Office during regular office hours. Fire Hall 250-295-3325

PRINCETON GROUND SEARCH AND RESCUE SOCIETYPrinceton Ground Search and Rescue Society (PGSAR) is a registered non-profit volunteer organization operating out of the town of Princeton. Its primary function is that of a community resource to assist the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), BC Ambulance Service (BCAS), and EMBC (PEP) in a variety of search and rescue functions. It is also a resource for the Town of Princeton’s and Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) Emergency plans. The team provides free training and meets most Thursday nights. CITIZENS ON PATROLCitizens on Patrol are a group of dedicated individuals who work as a team to be the extra eyes and ears of the RCMP. We volunteer with the RCMP and a variety of other organizations in providing assistance when requested. Please contact Jim Turner at 250-295-3178 or 250-295-8642

HIGHWAY EXTRACTIONOur mission is to be on call to help you-the residents and visitors of Princeton and Area. We partner with BC Ambulance and the RCMP to make your roads safer.
