How to add sites to the Google Brownfield Map

Step 1: Open the Brownfield Map on your computer

Click on the link below or type the link into the address bar of your web browser. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet.

Step 2: Search for the address or intersection of the Brownfield site you have identified

Type the address or location into the search bar on the Google Map.

Once you have typed the address or intersection into the search bar press enter or click on the blue search button, next to the address bar.

Step 3: Add the Brownfield site to the map

First click on the small green icon to see information box.

Second click on the “Add to map” button found in the information box.

Step 4: Change the icon

To change the new icon place the cursor over new site listed under Visited Sites (do not click yet).

You will see a small box appear on the right hand side, click on this box.

Once you have clicked on this box you will be able to change the colour and shape of the icon to match the other icons.

Step 5: Add data to the new Brownfield site

To add data click on the new site listed under Visited Sites, the text box will appear above the site selected.

At the bottom of the text box you will see an image of a small pencil. Click on this pencil.

Here you will be able to add data including the name of the site, the former use and any other relevant information. Make sure to click save before you close the text box.
