The McKendree Vine Volume 22 Number 1 January 2011  Kingdom Focused People! We begin this New Year with a focus toward honoring God! Honor is a word that God often speaks to us through the Holy Bible. During the month of January, we journeyed through the gospels of how God, through Jesus, calls us to honor God, through relationships , our bodies, time and the words we speak. Although this life hands us difficulties and challenges, we are given a greater gift, God’s Holy Spirit to lead, guide and protect our minds and hearts to go where God is. Jesus honored God in all he did! This year, we ask all of our McKendree family to pray and lead a LIFE of HONOR and then wait on God to say, “Well done, good and faithful (honorable) servant!” In February, we are introducing a provocative sermon series, “Fear No Evil.” We will focus on the biblical narratives where evil is present, but the grace of God, through Jesus Christ, is more powerful and comes to eliminate evil’s rule in our lives. Fear can cripple and drain us spiritually and physically, but Jesus presents an alternative, the Holy Spirit, one who comes to help deliver us. From what we see, hear and speak, this evil can consume and distract us from our missional mandate, “to go  therefore and make disciples of Jesus Christ.”  God’s faithfulness offers us the opportunity to be more focused by becoming a stronger, more relevant follower of Jesus Christ. Join us each Sunday in February to witness how God desires that all humanity be “delivered from evil.” Our mission is biblical and clear, “Glorifying God by making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!” -- Pastor Handy McKendree United Methodist Church Non-Profit Org 523 Church Street U.S. Postage Nashville, TN 37219 PAID 615.271.2600 Nashville, TN Fax 271.2607 Permit No. 2855 ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED
