Out with the old and in with the new. As we begin 2019, our sponsor Wolverine H-D and this Chapter are proud to begin the
16th year of existence. Throughout the years, many changes have occurred and in 2018
the Chapter experienced a number of changes in the faces that make up our
Officers and membership.
A heartfelt THANK YOU is extended to those that have volunteered as officers, including Karyn, Kenny “Dawg”, Rose
“Spaz”, Kathy, John, Mark, and Rose! Their countless years of service are greatly
appreciated! Additionally, thank you to all members that give their time and effort at individual events, as committee members,
and most importantly as committed riders!!!
Welcome to all new members and may you find the benefit of membership in
developing new friendships, enjoying new experiences and participating in Chapter
gatherings that suit you. Please be encouraged to bring your new, creative ideas to the various committees or to any
officer, so that our Chapter can continue to grow.

A Memorable Memorial Day Several members of the Chapter went to Washington, DC to check off a trip on our own “bucket lists” and participate in the Rolling Thunder ride. The trip out was nice, good weather and all. The 500+ miles there wasn't enough, so the next day we rode out to Ocean City, Md via the Bay Bridge to put our feet in the ocean.
On the way back we stopped for fuel and food. We got to talking with a couple of women at the restaurant, and discovered that it was a 76th birthday get-together. We found out that the “Birthday Girl” had never been on a bike and it was on her bucket list. A couple of us offered to take them on a ride. IAs it worked out, they where locals and we had a nice country ride right out of the parking lot. We only went a couple miles, but they loved it! We also had a good time taking them out on their virgin ride. The pictures we took captured the joy everyone shared.
The next day we went downtown D.C. to vendor alley and did some sightseeing. The Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Wall were cool. We checked out the exterior view of the White House too. On the way home we stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania. It wasn't too far off of the turnpike. I recommend everyone visit there at least once. This is the only 9/11 Memorial that is maintained by the U.S. National Parks Service. We lucked out and were there in time for a presentation of the account of that day by a park ranger. It was a fantastic story of the timeline and details. The Visitors Center presented artifacts and audio of the whole flight. This detour added about 3 hours to the ride home, but it was well worth it. - Wes

that took part in the 2018 “First Amendment Demon-
stration Run” or “Ride for Freedom” in Washington, D.C.
There is concern that 2019 may be the last year, so if it
is on your bucket list, you might want to get planning.

Charitable efforts in 2017 yielded over
$10,000.
Kids On The Go was the beneficiary of
our efforts, and have named a classroom
in honor of our hard work.
Thank you to all of those
that volunteered to “shake
your cans” and those that
made donations.
2018 pavement pounders
were out again in some in-
clement weather, but their
shaking has once again paid
off. Also, we wish to
acknowledge Ken’s Country
Kitchen and other establish-
ments that have given a per-
centage of sales to our charity.

A little diddy from the Ladies of Harley
officers, Kim Reid and Sherrie Clemente.
Just want to let all the gals know, whether
you’re a rider or a passenger, as long as you
are a current Chapter member you are
invited to attend all the activities and
meetings! We had a great 2018! Early in the year we went on a pub crawl which was a blast! We rode
to Port Huron to board the Lady Huron for a cruise up the river. We laughed a lot at Drag Queen Bingo,
took a leisurely ride and had a picnic lunch at the water’s edge while raising money for our selected
charity, enjoyed an evening wine tasting
and dancing at Freddie’s, too.
We provided gift wrapping at the dealer
ship on the weekend leading up to
Christmas for donations. It’s fun to meet
new people and get together with old
friends.

2019 even
more fun.

Get to Know Your Officers
Charities Officer — Debbie Levites
What do you ride and for how long?
I sit in the Queen’s seat on Bob’s 2017 Ultra Limited and have been
riding for 18 years.
How long have you been a member of Wolverine HOG?
Bob is a charter member, I was a guest until 2012 when I finely joined.
What is your favorite part of being a HOG member?
I love the group rides and events. We have a great group of people in our chapter and I always enjoy talking to everyone.
Why do you volunteer your time to the board?
The Chapter has given me so much pleasure over the last 15 years, I felt it was time for me to give something back.
Why do you enjoy being on the board?
I love being involved with helping children.
What hobbies do you have outside of riding?
I enjoy reading a good book, gardening, playing with my grandchildren and of course playing FarmVille2 on Facebook.
What is your favorite ride?
Along the St Clair River. We like to end up at Freighter’s restaurant under the Blue Water Bridge.
Sargent At Arms Office—John (Obie 1) O’Brien
I am a Vietnam Era Vet, serving 4 years in the Air Force. I worked in aircraft fuel systems and was sent to places like Spain, Taiwan, and Germany. Upon return to Michigan, I started dating Barb, now my wife of 41 years, and we have 2 sons, Daryl and Dale.
I worked for a short time at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan until I was hired at Ford Motor Co. where I recently retired from after 40 years of service. I have always enjoyed working on cars and I belong to two car clubs. I have attended several car shows, been to events with the cubs and attend the Woodward Dream Cruise yearly. Additionally, I have been very in- evolved with my family going camping, canoeing, and having coached soccer and baseball.
I got my first motorcycle, a Heritage Softail, in November, 2017, as a retire- ment gift, and at which time Barb & I joined the Chapter. I recently traded that bike in for an Ultra Limited, which we ride every chance we get. My favorite ride was my first Ride For Freedom. It was an experience I will never forget and I hope to ride in many more of them. Being retired has given me more free time to enjoy the many places in Michigan that I never had the time to visit when I was working.
Being a member of the Chapter has given me a great opportunity to meet a great group of people, go to different
places and events. I accepted the officer position because it was a position I felt comfortable in and was able to
help do my part for the group.
As Sargent At Arms, I am looking for people to present and retire the flags at the Chapter meetings. We also
need people to help in the Honor Guard. So, if you think you can help in either area, please let me know.
THANK YOU!!

At the request of a widow, riders came together on short notice, to fulfill her son’s wish.
Roberto Clarke Jr. was honored to ride one last time with his father, by carrying his ashes
to the memorial service, Road Crew guided the procession safely, while over 20 bikes
provided escort, as Roberto and his father rode as passengers in the side car. Mrs. Clarke
gladly accepted an offer to ride as a passenger on another bike, which helped her to have
one last ride with her husband. The family and friends were greatly appreciative of the
compassion shown to them by all in attendance .
