    Goodyear have

    completed some

    important

    research just in

    time for the

    festive season

    and its telling

    us that tyre

    defects are

    one of the

    most common

    factors that

    contribute to

    accidents. Tyres are

    responsible for traction,

    handling, steering, stability and

braking, so heres a tyre healthchecklist to tick o before

    heading to Plett this December.

    Pack in your mominlaw before

    checking the pressure so the

cars at the weight youre going

to be travelling at. Inlation can

    aect stopping distance and

    potential fuel range. Checking

tyre pressure when the tyre is

    warm can give you incorrect

    readings, so dont wait till

    Mossels before you do it.

A simple kick to the side isnt

enough to judge if youre down

the 0,2 bars of air pressure that

can usually be lost over a

    threemonth period. Check

    pressure properly. Tyre tread is

    one of the most important

things you need to be conident

    about. Is it still suiciently

deep? This is super important if

it rains and it will. Is the tread

    worn evenly? Also check the

    tyre sidewalls for any damage.

Not if, but when you hit a

    pothole and notice a vibration,

    the steering wheel doesnt

centre properly or it pulls to oneside, get the car checked

    immediately. Also check for the

    development of bulges on the

    tyre sidewalls. These indicate

    serious internal damage, which

    could lead to a blowout.

    Dont forget to check your

    spare, too.
