UNIVERSITY CEREMONY

Friday, May 8, 3 p.m., Bridgeforth Stadium

The University Ceremony is for all graduates. President Alger and the commencement speaker, ESPN anchor and JMU alum Lindsay Czarniak (’00) will be in attendance to congratulate all 2015 graduates.

Please arrive early; the stadium will fill quickly. Students sit with their friends as a group at the university ceremony and are recognized individually at the college ceremonies. Information for individual college ceremonies can be found on the JMU Commencement website and below.

Immediately following the University Ceremony there will be a celebration on Godwin Field, see information on back cover. All family, guests and graduates must leave the stadium. For those participating in the College of Business ceremony at 7 p.m., guests may re-enter the stadium at 6 p.m.

COLLEGE CEREMONIESEach college will hold their own ceremony in which all graduates

will have their names read and walk across the stage. Listed below are the colleges and their graduation locations. The college ceremonies are held rain or shine, so bring umbrellas or ponchos if the weather forecast reflects rain.

Friday, May 8

■ College of Business, 7 p.m., Bridgeforth Stadium

Saturday, May 9, all ceremonies begin at 9 a.m.

■ College of Arts & Letters, The Quadrangle

■ College of Education and University Studies, Convocation Center

■ College of Health and Behavioral Studies – Bridgeforth Stadium

■ College of Integrated Science and Engineering – UREC East Campus Field across from The Festival Center

■ College of Science and Mathematics – Alumni Centennial Park

■ College of Visual and Performing Arts – Duke Lawn

AMENITIES

Refreshments

Water fountains are located outside Bridgeforth Stadium, inside the Convocation Center and many locations across campus. Bottled water and individual snack items may be purchased at the concession areas at the stadium and near college graduation sites.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located in most major buildings near all commencement sites and are accessible for all guests. Portable restrooms will be located at Godwin Field, Rose Library, The Quad and UREC East Campus Field.

Accessibility

Accessible parking and seating for guests in wheelchairs will be available at all locations. Interpreters are available for most ceremonies. Please review the JMU Commencement website for seating information in relation to viewing the interpreter. A large-print version of the commencement program will be available on the JMU Commencement website. See a member of the Commencement Crew (located at all ceremonies) if you have any other accessibility needs.

FIRST AID First Aid crews will be stationed throughout campus.

EVENT LOGISTICS

Parking & Shuttle Services

Traffic will be extremely heavy on Saturday for the college ceremonies. Plan to arrive at least one hour prior to the start time. See the campus map for details on parking locations and restrictions. These lots fill up early. If you are able, use the Harrisonburg Transit bus system that is operating that day. Information on transportation schedules can be found on the JMU Commencement website.

Special parking is available for vehicles with a DMV-issued handicapped license plate or permit and are reflected with a symbol on the campus map.

How to get here…

From Rt. 81 Northbound, use Exit 245 from Interstate 81 to reach the Port Republic Road and Main Street entrances to campus. This takes you to the ceremonies for the Colleges of: Arts and Letters, Business, Health and Behavioral Studies, Visual and Performing Arts and the Graduate School.

From Rt. 81 Southbound, use Exit 247A from Interstate 81 to reach the Convocation Center or Carrier Drive entrance to campus. After exiting the interstate, travel east on U.S. 33 (Market Street). Turn right at the second traffic light onto University Boulevard, follow the electronic message board signs to JMU. This will take you to the ceremonies for the Colleges of: Integrated Science and Engineering, Science and Mathematics, Education and University Studies and The Graduate School.

To reduce traffic congestion after the college ceremonies conclude, vehicles in each parking lot will be routed to a specific exit from campus. Police will direct you to the appropriate exit.

WEEKEND DININGJMU dining services will be providing campus meal options

throughout the weekend. Please refer to the JMU Commencement website for details, pricing and locations.

HELPFUL HINTS ■ Wear comfortable walking shoes.

■ Dress for the weather. Outdoor ceremonies will be held rain or shine.

■ Bring sun block and sunglasses.

■ Bring bottled water and small snacks. Please note that coolers are not allowed. Food or drink that is medically necessary is permitted.

■ Please consider bringing your own wheelchair or transport chair for the comfort and safety of elderly guests or those with accessibility issues. Wheelchairs are not available at JMU.
