LTC Facility Services

• Skilled Nursing Facility/Nursing Facility

• Skilled nursing care and related services for residents who require medical or nursing care,

• Rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of injured, disabled, or sick persons, or

• On a regular basis, health-related care and services to individuals who because of their mental or physical condition require care and services (above the level of room and board) which can be made available to them only through institutional facilities, and

• The institution must have had in effect a transfer agreement with one or more hospitals.

• Services may also have been provided in any facility, which is located in a State on an Indian reservation and is certified by the Secretary as meeting the requirements of nursing facilities.

What does this mean?

• Identify education and experience requirements for supervisors and instructors, and the program’s procedure to ensure requirements are met.

• Include on the Addendum to ensure compliance with Federal and State Regulations.

Alzheimer’s Curriculum

• 63 O.S. § 1-1951(A)(3) The Department shall require training to include a minimum of 10 hrs of training in the care of Alzheimer’s patients

• State Regulations in Chapter 677 at 310:677-11-4(b)(4) – The training program shall include training in the care of cognitively impaired residents.

• Regulation is general and not specific to training topics.

• Techniques for addressing the unique needs and behaviors of individuals with dementia (Alzheimer’s and others);

• Communicating with cognitively impaired residents;

• Understanding the behavior of cognitively impaired residents

• Appropriate responses to the behavior of cognitively impaired residents; and

What does this mean?

• Identify procedure to ensure that all trainees testing have a signed affidavit PRIOR to or at test administration.

• Include procedure on the addendum to ensure compliance with the law.

• May maintain original copy of affidavit with the testing records for 3 years.

• Renew every 12 months

• Requires 8 hours of CEU – Dept approved program

• $5.00 nonrefundable fee

• Copy of Certificate of Attendance

• Recertification Application

• Have to retest if certification expired more than 1 year

• May retest only 1 time

• Not eligible to attend advanced CMA training if CMA certification expired

• May not be eligible to renew basic certification at all
