    Dear Mr. Delingpole,

Have just finished reading your amusing article in The Spectator of 29th May entitled

My Moment of Rock Star Glory at a Climate Change Sceptics Conference in

America. As a Spectator subscriber I regularly read your column and usually find it

informative and amusing. However I must take issue with the views expressed in this

    instance.

Many would agree that, in view of your humble background and experience in the

field of Journalism and English Literature, perhaps it would be better all round if you

did not comment to such a degree on the technically complex and potentially horrific

implications of global climate change. Even with a Spectator readership of only

70,000 and in view of the fact that you are preaching to the converted both there and

in The Daily Telegraph, surely one must accept a certain degree of responsibility. I

admit that I do continue to find it hard to understand why ill-informed politically

skewed climate change realists keep banging on in the way that they do, but then it

    takes all sorts.

For balanced and essentially verifiable evidence, could I suggest you go to the websiteof the UK Inst. of Civil Engineers and attempt to read the recently published paper

entitled Impacts of Climate Change on Waterborne Transport. The authors are from

the US Army Corps of Engineers, The German Federal Institute of Hydrology, the

French National Centre for Maritime and River Studies, The Norwegian Univ. of

Science and Technology in Trondheim, and HR Wallingford, one of the most highly

regarded consulting engineering organisations in Europe. All fairly independent very

experienced people working diligently towards solving the problems we shall all

experience in the fairly near future, as you will see from the work they are carrying

out. I have included a link to the publication. It speaks for itself and I am sure the

authors would be happy to explain what THEY are banging on about if you have

the time. Alternatively, if you would care to inform the seven authors why their work

is wrong, please feel free to do so. I do not believe any of them drive VW Combis but

    some have longish hair.

    You silly bloody fool.

The most important and urgent problems of the technology of today are no longer the

satisfactions of the primary needs or of archetypal wishes, but the reparation of the

evils and damages by the technology of yesterday Dennis Gabor
