James Cameron

James Cameron was born in Canada in 1984, he originally thought he wanted to study physics at Fullerton community college before switching to English and the dropping out and teaching himself about special effects. He was inspired to enter the film industry after watching the original star wars film in 1977.

Early life

The first film Cameron made was called xenogenesis, he was the writer, director, producer and product designer for it. He then went to work as a production designer for 'galaxy of terror' and consulted on 'Android'. He then deviated from the sci-fi genre to go into thrillers after being hired as the special effects director on the thriller sequel piranha, called Piranha 2: The Spawning.

Cameron's first big hit in the film industry as a director with his film 'The Terminator' he got the idea from a nightmare he had while suffering from food poisoning in which an 'invincible robot hitman' was sent from the future to kill him. And from then he went on to make more hit thrillers such as the abyss and sequels to the terminator film. Filming the abyss was said to have been one of the most expensive films of its time because Cameron insisted on shooting the film 'reel for reel' at depths of about 40 feet.
