Residential Courses are now being held weekly at the ' PYREX • Home Centre and vou would be wise to write early for reservations for yourself and your staff.

The Home Centre is a large and pleasant house in Sunderland which has been transformed . and adapted to make it suitable for this training scheme which operates entirely at our expense. Each week 12 to 15 students hear from a team of specialists how a fuller understanding of the basic uses of ' PYREX • and the art of its presentation and display lead to increased sales.

It is a three-day course lasting from 9 a.m. each Tuesday to 2 p.m. each Thursday. A typical syllabus is as follows :-

Students arrive in time for evening meal.

9.30 to 12.30 Visit to Wear Glass Works to see 'PYREX ' glass being made.

2.15 to 3.15 The science of cooking with ' PYREX.'

3.30 to 5.30 ' PYREX 'in the home . Identification of dishes and their individual uses.

Wednesday- 9.30 to 12.30 Tuition in kitchen : (a) 'PYREX' in the

storage and preparation of food.

(b) 'PYREX' in the cooking and serving of food.

2.15 to 3.45 Theory of display. 4.00 to 4.30 Salesmanship.

Thursday - 9.30 to 10.45 Refresher visit to the oven-glass works.

11.00 to 12.30 General discussion, questions and recap. of course.

Students disperse after lunch.

2 Handle hot ' Pyrex' with a dr y cloth ; be sure the outside of the d ish is dry before putting in oven ; don't pl ace hot dish on wet or cold table -t op or sink

Avoid pouring cold water into a hot di sh ; or very hot water into a cold one

Never allow the food co bake dry in a I Pyrex ' dish - chis may cause breakage

Cleaning If you accidentally scorch food in ' Pyrex,' soak the di sh in a solution of 3 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of warm water, for at least half an hour. Wash with soap or washing powder - r inse well

Don't use strong abrasives - a nylon scourer is ideal. Slight staining can easily be removed with a damp cloth and a little salt

Greasing Always grease ' Pyrex' dishes generously, or put a little water in them before addin g the food . Th is greatly lessens dish scrubbing and general ly reduces the time taken to wash up.

' Pyrex ' has been awarded the certificate of the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene.
